petition to try Diane Feinstein for treason

I think the reason stuff like this pops up is that when you watch the talking heads on CNN talk about banning guns you feel like you need to do something.

However, since we live in a representative democracy, a lot of this is being done on our behalf. All you can really do is vote for people who agree with you (did that), write the people who represent you to try to get them to agree with you (did that), or give money to organizations who try to whip the representatives into agreeing with you (join the NRA!). Assuming you voted, you can do all the other stuff in about 20 minutes. For the rest of the time it's tough to sit on your hands and wait for the legislative sausage factory to work.

It's tough to feel helpless, and Internet petitions feel like action, but in this case I can't imagine what positive effect it could have.

Nah, keep going. This one's starting to get good, and there's lots of fancy words I don't see very oftenly.

Oh my young friend, please tell me you are trolling. But if you are not you might want to make sure you are sitting before reading further.

The form of government we have is a Representative Republic. Sorry if this puts a knot in your shorts but it's the truth. Public school system?

I'll go read up on the meaning of "republic" if you go read up on "pedantry."
LOL!

It's prolly not your fault Poop. I suspect your history teacher was like my english teacher in HS. Now he was a full fledged hippie liberal, drove a VW bug, baby blue, peace sign and all. Had the Lennon glasses and beard too. Pretty cool guy though and a good teacher, it's just been too many years since I was there. That's why my spelling and grammar sucks.

My history teacher one the other hand, I've actually always wondered if the character of Archie Bunker wasn't modeled after the guy. He was old, mean, old, crotchety and old which is probably why I know things like this.

It was this guy:

Dude has a PhD and builds canoes out of logs.

We didn't spend a whole lot of time talking about what the right label was for our system of government, I'll give you that.

Captain, we seem to be switching to a different forum.

This is what Internet Discussions look like. The difference here is that there's no "helicopter mom" mod to scold people for raising their voices, and we'll probably see each other at a match IRL and it will be fine.

Though I think he does still owe me an ass kicking for the "LemonPartyOK" thing.

On this forum all my political talk if serious will be limited to 2A issues. Anything else is just "chain yanking" in good fun with a fact thrown in once in awhile. We can always go "over there" for political mudslinging.

That is all the way down and a statement of fact. I am so tired of the PC crap that says you can't say what is the truth as it might offend someone.
