Peaceful protest at the State Capitol on January 19th- noon

Not exactly the spokesperson I think we want out in front on this debate. And a bunch of guys out in front of the capitol with signs that say "come and take them" is going to do nothing but fuel negative stereotypes for the firearms community.

Does anyone have any better ideas? Until then, I'll be at the capital next Saturday. I didn't watch the whole video, but from what I saw kind of mixed on the message to be. It's very short notice so there limited on time to organize, but aren't we expecting something out of Washington by the end of the month? He did say not to show up wearing camouflage, dress respectively if you can and keep messages to the media short or else you're playing into the media's hand.

Write your representatives. Join the NRA or get a life membership if you havent, they are $300 right now. Sign up all your friends and family. Be an ambassador to the shooting community through your actions and through intelligent conversations.

If you attend an event like this, dress like you are going to the bank to try and get a loan. Wear a suit, and be professional. The problem with this kind of stuff is what Troy and Jesse are concerned about, someone will show up in camo with a sidearm and a 2 digit IQ and guess who the press will feature on the evening news?

I agree, dress like you are going to a job interview. With reason of course, because it will be cold out there.

And for Pete's sake, hide the ones that show up in camo somewhere deep in the group. :sarcastichand: Just kidding.

Just my opinion but I wouldn't CCW to the capitol, I think that's just begging for trouble. The media has no business knowing who can carry and who can't, let alone who is. Plus, I think they could spin that in a bad way if they wanted too. Better to play it as safe as possible. You don't have to carry to make a point. Again, just my opinion.

It's completely fine to CCW outside. You just can't take it in. Of course, there will probably be the ones in camo that start a ruckus and then everything gets out of hand and then there's an ND and then this was all for nothing and our cause ends up taking a couple of steps back.

Chris, I've taken this suggestion, and advanced it to the OK2F folks. We also discussed this issue in our Ponca City Gun club meeting tonight when some decided they wanted to drive to OKC to make this event. A toothless redneck in camo with a hog leg strapped on is not acceptable. The media will make that one person the focus of the event. I'm not going to be there because of prior commitments.

One of the car forums I belong to someone raised an interesting concern.

This is perfect opportunity for an anti-gun group to show up pretend to be gun owners and at nuts...it happens at Tea Party meetings

I'm not saying that it's a fool proof plan but something good now is better than something perfect after the laws have been passed.

We need to be well dressed with no blasters in sight. We have to wall the camo wearing cold dead hands guys with guys in ties and polos. Everyone has time to go to a match. This is going to go on all over the country. Oklahoma has a permit for this all ready. The hard part has been done - please just show up well dressed with a well thought out sign. (Please god no cold dead hands)
