When doing a firearm/gear transaction in a parking lot, don't be alarmed or offended when the nice policeman drives up on ya and gets out. Maybe he just wants to see what ya got......

Hope I recruited one to our little forum.

Anyway, carry on.

Thats funny! Kind of spooky though at times. I made a deal in Ponca for a set of carbide .45 Colt dies.
He asked me to meet him at his house. Nice side of town, and went by myself. Pulled into the drive with the garage door open, three big ol' boys with lumps under their shirt met me.
No biggie, made the deal, and walked out with 100 rounds of .45acp brass to boot for free. He didn't reload, and had extra.
It did kind of make me think about the parking lot transactions that some of you guys do.
You never know.
BTW I got this guy to take his .45acp to the range for an IPSC shoot, and he is a regular now :D

If anyone is doing a FTF and dont feel comfortable with meeting someone, tell them to meet you in the local PD parking lot.

I had a deal once and the guy ended up being state police and the two HUGE SCARRY dudes with him were both with federal agencies. There were more weapons in their vehicle than cammo at a Tommy party!

Might want to let the cops know what is going down, so they dont look and and see two guys they dont know standing outside the PD with a few guns. I could see that going downhill fast

Correct, you would want to let them know you will be there. they wont have a problem with it, because by you doing it in the parking lot of the PD, you are 1 less person that could possibly be robbed and killed while selling something

I will keep this in mind tomorrow when my sale takes place. haven't decided on which parking lot to use yet but I know McDonalds is out for sure :P

Plus, I like to look at other people's guns!

Honestly, while it may not be illegal, if you walk into a police station & tell them you're going to be conducting a gun transaction in their parking lot, they'll probably ask you if you were dropped on your head as a small child. I really wouldn't advise this method of doing business.

No, private gun sales aren't illegal, but you're better off keeping the transaction on the DL & drawing as little attention to yourselves as possible. If you're leary enough of a transaction that you think you should do it at the police station just to be safe, you should probably find another buyer/seller you're more comfortable with. I wouldn't hesitate to keep on driving past a buyer/seller if the situation didn't look right. Get down the road a bit and call them to let them know what's up & then decide if the deal is salvageable.

You sound like the OHP that got me on HW 60 east of Ponca.

Did the CCW, and DL license for him, and he gave me his instructions about putting them on the consol.
Went to his vehicle to get the ticket, and spent about half an hour talking about differences in lasers, (that mine had), and if I liked the P3AT from Keltec.

Nice guy, and he was just doing his job.

But he did ticket you?

I guess it just depends on who you are, I typically dont buy guns from or sell guns to people that are not LEO's.
