One of my favorite rigs. Second only to a slug-o. Went to Thunder bird last weekend and pretty much had to be alive or have blades. I don't know how anything hunts in that murk.

Going back next weekend so any tips on fishing in a mud hole would be appreciated.

I took by my boy 4-wheeling at Gruber a couple weekends ago. Way back in there is a nice creek with lots of pools in it. The creek bed is mostly rock so the water is very pretty. Next time I go we're taking the ultralights and wade the creek in shorts.

I've used a small Texas rig like the pic in the Bob's first post at Blue River and had great success with the Kentucky Hibrids or whatever the hell they call them at Blue River close to Tishomingo. That little is a pain in the ass because of the rocks and holes, but it's productive. Or at least it used to be, I haven't been there in years. We also used to fish minnows below the falls (there are tons of them) after a rain and slayed the channel cat.

I love doing that. After active duty, I got into the Army Reserves for quite awhile, and we always went to Ft Leonard Wood Mo. for summer camp. I'd stop on a bridge and wade the creek, catching tons of smallmouth on spinning gear. Now, I wade the creeks with a fly rod.

I'm really rediscovering the simple fun stuff in life, such as fishing with my son, shooting with my boys and dad, camping. I have a great hotter than donut grease girlfriend that enjoys many of the same things. It has taken a while, and there are those on here that suffered greater tragedy than I, but man it's fun being back out in the outdoors and living large by catching little fish!

My mantra is; I don't care what specie of fish it is, as long as its biting. Keep a few for eating, and release the rest.
My new passion is learning how to fly fish. I'm getting it down slowly. I'll never be the flyfishing snob that a lot are, just another way to have fun.
