This 25m pistol/rifle range is at PSA's Fernandina location. It was well lit, VERY well ventilated...in fact, it was probably cleaner than outside. There were only 2 other shooters in there with me. I was told you can use any caliber up to .308 and the only restriction on ammo is you need to use brass casings versus zinc/steel. If you plan on going, I'd double check that restriction so you don't get there and have to buy ammo if you didn't intend to.

The range has nice digital known-distance keypads. There are instructions posted with them. The only drawback is that they are posted up high, to prevent damage from brass, people bumping them, etc. If you are like 5'4 or shorter, you may have problems reaching them. I took a photo, but it came out blurry, so I'm not going to subject ya'll to that.

I was testing out a new threaded barrel in my Glock 19, and hammered out this group at 7 meters:

I was at the store yesterday during lunch and picked up a ruger sr22 pistol. The range was closed until 4:00 due to some work being done but i cant wait to try it out.

Around what time/day were you there and had all that room to yourself? And what are the rates?

Why only brass, I wonder? Do they confiscate, er um recycle, it?

If you want to keep your brass you are welcome to. I guess they recycle it in some capacity and don't want to sort out steel casings. Of course, this is just me guessing, but it seems like a good one.

I had a chance to see the back end of the rang. They really did it right. It is an automated system with screws that puts all the lead into hoppers.

The only thing I wish they did was put windows in so you could see people shooting.

This is a first class range. Shooters choice...eat your heart out.

Very Nice range.
Too bad they don't care enough about YOU the people who spend their money there to be forum sponsors.

I'm not aware of the politics behind PSA and forum sponsorship...I love the business so I hope there is no bad blood or stepped on toes regarding them and the forum.

I have been a patron of PSA since their original store on Farrow opened up. They have been very good to me.

It is not so much bad blood as it is they say they can't afford to help support us. You would not believe how resonable it is to support the Forum....But, they spend big bucks an places like Carolina Shooters Foreum and AR-15.com....but, can't afford us the respect of a few dollars to kind of help the Forum along...

If I could think of something kool to make as a header, I have thought about being a sponsor....I guess I could say "Old With Kimbers Is Kool" or something dumb like that...then help the Forum out...

Maybe we as members could do a banner with our names printed small...then we kick a few bucks apiece in to help...What you think????

Steve

We could use geography and have a Palmetto Low Country Shooters,Palmetto Pee Dee Shooters or Greenville-Spartanburg Shooters sponsoring banners. I don't think there is any reason we couldn't have "Chapters" of the Palmetto Shooters Forum sponsoring banners. Just a thought.

ive spoken to the owner, not about the forum, but has anyone thought of inviting him to the next SHOOTZENFEST?

in person might be better but some computer savy member could make up a fancy E_MAIL invitation that would peak his interest.

They have been approached multiple times by both Pops and myself.
There is no politics between us.

We really don't want to ask forum members for money.
That is why we have sponsors.
Just so y'all know the way it is.
The forum has always run in the red.
We spend more on ShootzenFest than we make.

We just feel it would be nice if a business that makes the kind of money they do off the citizens of this state would give just a taste back.
The money would fund more T-Shirts and such not go in our pockets.
We have been wanting to do door prizes for some time but alas there is only so much money to go around.

This forum is free for the members and we want it to stay that way.
WE do not want to be one of those forums that constantly have their hand out to the members.

I was on a website that had a banner that went above or below the member's username/avatar on each post they made that indicated they were a "Contributor" to the site. Ya'll could do that, and give contributors a perk, like 200x200 pixel avatar rather than 100x100 or something of that nature.

Bronze Contributor: $10.00
Silver: $50.00
Gold: $100.00

And each contribution status is good for 1 year from the date of receipt or something, and the color of the "Contributor" scroll represent the level contributed. I don't view this as the site asking for handouts; I see it as members who like being involved with the site doing something to keep it around.

We did this on an auto racing club website I was on up in Northern Cackalacky. Worked well - nothing different in service levels for the different levels of free/bronze/silver/gold contributors except a small banner under their avatar. Just some folks were well established in their careers and could afford to chip in a few bucks now and again, and some of us couldn't. We received enough to pay for hosting fees and software licenses, and that was the goal, so it worked out pretty well.
