Opening up the Port!

Is that an M2? You could go quite a bit deeper than that. The lifter looks nice! I haven't welded mine yet, I haven't gotten my thumb snagged yet in the 5 yrs I've owned it. Here's a side shot of my M2 load port:

I see what your saying... I will give it another shot, but basically you are removing more material from the inside correct? I was afraid to go lower and hit the serial number.

Guys, open up your port according to what you like, not what someone else tells you to do. grind a little, load a little, see what you want and need; whats slowing you down. If youre not a very fast loader, chances its not your port thats slowing you down.
Just err on the conservative side, is what im saying. Save you some potential headaches.

How did you polish that lifter?
I took it all the way down and removed the lifter from the trigger assembly. Then hit the buffing wheel with 3 different rouges (course, medium & fine)

do not polish your lifter, Will. go reload or something.
Ok. But I think there is some sort of hormone in my new Dremel that makes me want to use it. Must resist urge to dremel something.

Speaking of Dremel mine wore out this weekend. Any way to fix these things or just get a new one?

I didn't know that was possible. I guess you just get a new one.

There's a plastic spline shaft coupling that can shear off. It connects the motor to the output shaft. It's replacable, and about $5 from Dremel. I had to do that to one at work about 7 years ago.

When I squeeze it sometimes it works again. I ordered a new one. if someone wants a project its all theirs.
