Opening Day

Can't make it out until Saturday, but will have a new crossbow (shooters elbow and doc's recommendation that drawing a bow was not in my best interest was all the excuse I needed to justify this new purchase!) that I hope will be the ticket to success.

I've been too busy getting wheat planted at the farms, and the food plots in as well, but that's all behind me now. Going out tomorrow evening for the first time.
I've got some real bruisers in one tiny little 22 acre wood lot in the middle of a section. So far they have been nocturnal, but that's fixing to change.

Where at in Oklahoma are you Dennis? If you are in the southwest this heat wave we are hitting is going to keep them nocturnal and close to water for another couple weeks.

I'm west of I35 about 15 miles, just south of the Kansas border. The heat has certainly kept movement at a minimum.
I'm hunting the location as we speak.
There was two does on the food plot walking in, so had to back out until they left.
With this heat and low winds, it will be all or nothing right at dark I'm thinking.

I have the only pond in ten square miles with any water in it.

Different buck showed up recently.

Yeah that will change. Hopefully you can whack a big one. I know where a monster is who is plenty old enough but I can't touch him. Lives in the tree line a couple hundred yards south of the casino I work at. Problem is the casino don't own the land and the guy who does won't let people hunt.
