Old Fort shootout 3.14.15 and 3.15.15

Even with the late start on Saturday, we were done at a pretty reasonable time. More stages would be great.

Hello Everyone, Debbie is trying to combine the scores as this is supposed to be a single match that you can shoot two different divisions in. Hopefully she will be able to get all the scores combined this way we can where all stack up.

I would also like to comment on Prov1x's post. I know on stage 1 someone moved the left barrel that was hiding the swinger. Our squad started on that stage both days and Saturday when we shot it the head box was not available from the start position, but Sunday when we got to the stage you could clearly see the head box from the start position. We moved the barrel back to where it was supposed to be and Debbie wrote in the correction to stage description "that swingers must be activated before engaging". When we set everything up on Thursday you could not see the head box of the target but apparently we forgot to nail down the left barrel and someone took advantage of it. Please except my apologies for OFGC crew for this mistake. It really pisses me off that someone will try to cheat that way, I'm all for gaming the hell out of a stage, but that's just plain cheating. Sorry for the rant, if anyone saw anything else that was changed from Saturday to Sunday please let me know I can't fix it now but it will help us better prepare for future matches? Next year we will try to mark everything with orange paint to try and keep this from happening again.

On a side note, I have a question that I would like to throw out there for you guys and like to get your opinions on. Last year we shot 6 field courses and 1 classifier, this year we shot 7 long field courses. If we keep this as the same format in the future, meaning a one day match that you can shoot both days but in different divisions, how many stages and rounds would you guys like to shoot in a single day? I was kinda thinking 8 stages with 25 plus round count and maybe a classifier or a short course or something along those lines for a total of 9 stages. What's everyone's thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks,

Loren P.
On Saturday, both head boxes on the swingers on stage 1 were available to shoot. On Sunday, they were not. It was actually a lot faster to shoot the stage by activating the swingers first, so I'm not sure how much damage was done, but that did affect the way my squad ran the stage. I shot the head boxes Saturday for a 6.5ish HF and shot the swingers post-activation on Sunday for a 8ish HF.

More stages would be great. 9 stages. Maybe 10.

It was a fun match and more stages would be awesome. Great crew at OFGC!
I still wish it was scored as two separate matches

Thanks for comment Mitch. That is kinda what I figured about the head boxes and how much it would affect someone's hit factor. Shooting at the head from a further distance rather than activating the swinger and cutting the distance in half didn't really sound like a big advantage to me since you had to finish at the port anyways. When we set these up on Thursday you couldn't see the heads but somewhere along the way barrels got moved. Next year I will try to remember to mark everything with paint before the match.

I will also see if we can get a couple of more smaller stages added to next years match. I was thinking along the lines of maybe two stages with no more than 20 rnds per stage. That would put the total round count for the match close to 250. That's not to bad especially if you shoot both days. Also we are kicking around the idea of moving the match further back on the calendar, like maybe April or May and possibly even June. When would you guys prefer it to be, earlier in the year or more towards the middle, (before it gets to hot)? Let me know what you guys think and we will try to make it happen.

Personally, I like a mix of long field courses with short courses interspersed. After planning and shooting 3-4 field courses in a row, it's nice to give your brain a break by shooting a nice simple stage that doesn't require a lot of thinking(not my strong suit anyway). It also changes the dynamic of the match because speed shoots test different skills than field courses.

As for dates, I like the early match. It's a good warm-up for shooting season after the winter break.

Moving away from a rainy weekend would be awesome. It seems to be common knowledge that the current weekend of the match is consistently rainy. We need an almanac.

I was really glad I got to come to this match. The stages were major match quality and everything ran smooth despite the weather (from my point of view), If your going to add stages, add another short course and a classifier. People like to get a classifier out of a match.

Loved the match and it was ran well! Thank you guys for everything. When will we find out about trophies?

Feegee, I just sent Bruce and Debby an email. I will try to find out when we will know the final results and let everyone know asap.

Guys, I have the combined final results for the Shootout in a word document but I do not know how to post it where you guys can see here. If someone knows how to post it send me your email address and I will forward the attachment to you so you can post. Debby ended up having to enter everything in to EZWINSCORE the old fashion way to get the combined results. THANK YOU DEBBY!!!!

Loren P.

PS.
Jason if you sent me the PM I haven't receive anything. If it wasn't for me please disregard this note.

Bummer.
