You live in Norman. i can't even get you to drive to OKCGC for a match desptie it being bigger an better than the Gator classic.

A) I doubt its BIGGER than the LA Gator
B) I have made EVERY OKCGC match that I have been in town for since I started...

I'd like to get out and shoot sometime next week. Anybody have any cool nfa toys I could play with? Sbr? Suppressor? Stillwater is boring as hell during the week. My trigger finger is getting arthritis.

If Oklahoma had enough active shooters to guarantee that at least 5 guys in each class made it to every point series match then a class-winner system would work.

I'm guessing that if you had 5 matches, one at each club, only 1-5 guys in each DIVISION would make it to every single match. You could do it heads up but then award the top 4-5 guys in each division and I bet you only a few guys that take the time to participate wont get a trophy. If you awarded the top 5 in each division(and assume that only Roger and a couple others are going to shoot revo) you would be giving out 25 trophies. Are there 25 guys that will make it to 5 specific club matches. Maybe?

The trick would be to plan well. If you're a C-B class shooter then pick a division that wont be super competitive. Yeah, if you want to shoot limited or open you're going to get smoked in the point series, but you'll have a fighting chance at placing top 5 in prod, L10 o SS. elephant dung, you could even buy a revolver rig and guarantee yourself a trophy even if you've never shot one before.

About sandbagging, I agree with Mike Pinto. I don't think anybody does it on purpose, the classification system is just a poor indicator of match skills. Look at your average classifier. It involves standing in one spot, doing a reload or two, and often times shooting weak or strong hand. Reloads are important to match performance, and the draw is marginally important, but nothing else from the match skillset is tested in a classifier. You never see a classifier that involves fluid movement, setting up on arrays, stage analysis skills, etc.

Matches are won by guys who can burn down field courses. Classifiers test your ability to stand and shoot. Just my .02.

Oklahoma Point Series/State Match, whats the difference.I can guarantee from past experience You start a point series w/ a pistol or money for winners you will have the Hot Rods from Southern Kansas,Western Ark.,North and West Texas coming in for just enough matches to qualify, and if you say Okies only you are gonna create havoc for Phil as area 4 Director. It could very well work but you would have to walk on egg shells and you will HAVE to Chrono at every match. There is a lot of people not shooting Major at local matches,1 they don't have Chronos and second they don't have to worry about it.When I chronoed what I thought was major to go to N.Texas I was supprised,I would have went minor if they Chronoed. This is all inclusive w/sandbagging
Just my Cents

I just thought of this. Award the top 5 heads up, and then class winners for classes with more than X number of competitors. This way you're not giving a prize to the only C class shooters who showed up to tall 5 matches to shoot Limited 10.

I think a lot of you guys are overestimating the number of people who will commit the time to travel to 5 separate matches over the course of the season. Participation alone will have a lot more to do with who wins than shooting ability.

I don't think the chrono or powder puff loads do all that much for someone under M level. I have been getting better every match and I shoot full power factory loads ever match.

Bring on those guys from AR, KS, and TX. They ain't gonna make it to all enouhg matches to beat us in the points. Some of us shoot 20+ local matches a year. That average will be much higher than the guys that show up for just five.

On the point series... I'd really like to see the shoot off format at the end.

On the USPSA classification system...The system isn't great but there are classifiers that have considerable movement and props. The SCRAP guys at Duncan have shot 99-36, 99-43 and 99-27 all within the last few months. Movement classifiers are out there we just need use them in our matches and encourage USPSA to approve more.

A shootoff would be awesome!

Sounds like the difference between pinks and pinks all out! A guy with a stock camaro going against a top fuel drag car!

Huh? Nobody is talking about combining divisions. The top-fuel guns would still have to race the top fuel-guns, and the stock guns would race the stock guns. It would be more like letting Chip Foose compete against me driving a car just like his. I'd get stomped, but if chip is a busy guy and can only make it to 2 of the 5 point series matches, I could still take home a trophy.

What would you guys think about Oklahoma doing a Point Series?

I think it's a great idea. This is how Colorado does it, as well.

But I've been bringing it in Oklahoma up since 1996 and am shot down each and every time.

The bottom line is, the clubs don't want to give up their slots. They earned them via mission count and therefore want the ability to distribute them as they see fit.

I can certainly understand that. Therefore, the clubs see no advantage to running a Point Series, so it ain't gonna happen in OK anytime soon.

I don't think anybody was talking about slots David. I didn't hear anybody begging to gobyo nationals that didn't get to go. Actually I only know one or two guys that went. Mr. Pinto was talking about bragging rights and prizes. My two favorite things after gummy bears and English taffy.

There is already a point series in OK. Our 3-gun division is participating in it. We have already completed one match and i am still playing with the format, but I can tell you that Mr. Seeklander is in first place overall with Eric Crotsley a close second. There will be a man on man, NO JESSE NOT THAT KIND OF MAN ON MAN, at the end of the season for some serious prizes. First will receive a real rifle with 2011 Oklahoma Multi-Gun Champion on it somewhere. It will be a really cool deal. No charge and no minimum shoots. It is cumulative so make every match, even if you do need the scooter.

I love me some man on man! This deal is awesome they should put it in 3 gun nation. I can't wait to hear more. You really need to put your name back on that score sheet Mike. You deserve a chance to win more than anybody else does.
