OKCGC Saturday April 30th All Shotgun Match

That match was badass. Stage 1 was by far the most fun to shoot and even watch. Im definitely going to invest in some of those pipe targets. I think the value is awesome. Rule of thumb...guns work better when clean...a rule i didnt adhere to :/

Thanks for putting on this match, a good way to spend a beautiful saturday. I cant wait for the next one.

My right cheek feels like it was in a boxing match more than a shooting match... Time to get my bolt lightened

The star is in the barn still unassembled.

Better than the gas pipe we used to use that would just get heavier as more shot gets embedded in it with each shooter.
Plastic gas pipe?
EMT conduit may have a thicker wall thickness than the fence pipe. I haven't measured the difference in thickness. but I have some of both here at the house, and I'll do it tomorrow.

The pipes we have here that they've use for the Nordic Components shotgun match are like 3 or 4 inch diameter and pretty heavy gauge. They seem to have an unlimited life as long as someone doesn't put a slug through them like old boy did last week.

Yeah those pipes are the model we are trying to improve upon. The thin wall ones Nordic used work great but the thick heavy ones suck balls. Unfortunately both of those require a bigger stand that MGM doesn't sell and aren't as easy as going to the hardware store and buying posts then cutting them into 8" pieces.

I may just need to go to a actual tubing company and get someThing of similar diameter with a little thicker walls. The black end posts I have maybe the ticket. Unfortunately those aren't sold everywhere. We had to get them from a fence company and they were more $ too.

Highly doubt it, EMT is not cheap.

13 gauge (Sch. 20) fence pipe is approx. $2.12 per foot but has nearly twice the wall thickness as standard 17 gauge fence pipe.

Check with a local HVAC shop that does big chilled water installs / refits for drops. Chilled water systems use big black steel pipes.

I found a place online to get 9' of 2" schedule 80 pipe for approx. $65 shipped.

I just use the scraps off oilfield pipe left over from welding corral fence. Don't know how it compares pricewise(I've swapped for a lot of mine) to what you are getting, but it can't be rare in Oklahoma.

How thick is it and what diameter is it?

What I've been using is 2 3/8", 3/16" sidewall. It's kind of heavy but it was scrap I just has laying around.

If it's upset tubing, I've got a 21' joint of it i'd contribute to the cause if it's still good. Been laying next to the fence for a few years on the ground.

I cut a 12" piece of black 2" pipe tonight. I'll set it up and shoot it with low velocity #7 1/2 birdshot using a cylinder bore choke, and see if it can be reliably knocked down.
I don't have one of the stands that were used, which would contribute to helping knock them over, but it should be close just putting it on a plate of steel.
What max distance are we talking here? 10 yds?
