I should know this probably but I don't. Do I need to bring both wood AND targets to shoot at the pistol range (next to the Silhouette Range). Last time I was shot there were some frames there but I don't know if someone just left them or if they are normally there.

Thanks

That is the bullseye range. Are you going to practice bullseye competition? If not head over to the plinking range and pop some steel plates or the action pistol range. Action pistol range has target stands and lathe sticks. Just add stapler and paper and cleanup and your golden.

I would really like to join out there, but I know a lot goes on during the weekend. Me joining would hinge upon whether or not I could go out there on a Saturday morning and be able to practice for 3-gun, something like being able to have a bay to myself so that I could run around, draw my pistol from my holster, set up my targets and just have fun. I'm probably asking a lot I know, can anyone give me a yes or you are out of your mind if you think you are going to do that there, or a Saturday!? Are you crazy?

There is almost always a bay open all the time. There are 12 bays plus the long range and black powder areas. You can always find an area to practice. If you are considering joining send an email to the membership guys ASAP as membership is not always open.

Cool, I was just concerned with the pistol matches that take place there on Saturdays. I need to get a couple of things take care of and talk nice to my wife.

Remind her that you pay ~$180 the 2nd year and you can do a work day and knock $80 off. Then you save $5 per match by bring a membe so you gotta shoot at least 20 matches per year so your membership is free! That's wife math right there. Spend more to save money;)

I think my wife may have the same math teacher as yours. She never wants to tell me how much she spent. She always wants to show me the bottom of the receipt where is says "you saved $XXX.XX today". So yeah, the more you buy the more money you save.

I just tell her I have to go shoot or the memebership isn't going to be free. I think I'm going to try to convince her that if I shoot enough, they're actually paying me to shoot. Wish me luck.

Nice! OKCGC is top notch compared to some if the other shitholes I've visited. It's a real luxury for us to have.

Just a few questions for you shooters. Where exactly is OKCGC Pistol Range located? Do they have an area for folks to sit and watch the competition? Also, is there a website I can go to that will give me some more info on the range.

Thank You

The action pistol range is on the East side if the section. They have a bullseye range and a plinking range too. There aren't bleaches to watch the matches nut they do have park benches to sit on to rest your dogs.

I imagine there is a waiting list to join...how long does it usually take to get 'in'?

That just depends on how many people didn't sign back up. If you want to join email the membership coordinator ASAP. They just had a big membership orientation. I'm not sure if they are full or not. They have been increasing membership capacity every year for several years. I heard they were up to 1700 or so members. The place is so big it still feels like a ghost town when you are out there with the exception of the month before rifle season when everybody shoots their rifle the mandatory 5 shots before the hunt.

I have a curious. I love the action range. I usually just pick a bay that has a target stand and sticks left up to do some blasting/practicing. I never know whether to put the stand/sticks up when I'm done or not. I do appreciate a single stand left up in a bay to save some running around, but I don't want people to think I'm leaving the junk out. I usually 90% of the time put it up.

I love the gun club. I just wish it didn't take me an hour to get there.

Hi Dustin, we try to keep target frames put together at the pistol range but sometimes shooters get to them first and shoot them all to hell. I wish we could get shooters to put holes in the middle lol. Back to business though. The club does not actually furnish target frames or targets for the bullseye range unfortunately. If the frames the bullseye division does leave at the range gets shot up, then the shooters will have to "improvise".

Thanks, Mark

Thats a shame! I guess that's the same guy that shoots the action range steel with his AR if any gets left out. I wish people would get more involved at the club sorbet understood the do's and dont's. Maybe each section needs to go a separate orientation much like the shotgun section does?

I hate going out there and seeing the action steel shot all to hell. I love the gun club like it is my own child. I will (attempt to) kick your ass if I catch you abusing it.
