We will be hosting a rifle/pistol match on the 17th at the OKCGC. Sign in at 8:30'ish and the match will start at 9:00am on Sunday. We will have 4 stages including long range. We should be out of there by noon or 1:00pm at the latest to try to beat the heat. We will be using the old IMG scoring to speed things up as well, which means any 1 A/B neutralizes the target or 2 anywhere within the scoring perforation. Yours truly as well as Curly with the assistance of our very own Jesse T will create some challenging, fun, and relatively quick stages for your shooting pleasure. As always Scott the wild man Parks will be there with his trusty purple Tahoe and his Heavy Metal gear. Cost will be the standard $10 and $15 for members and non-members respectively. Bring 150 of each and you should be set, ammo wise.. Setup will commence Saturday afternoon ~5:00pm or so and any and all assistance is welcomed. You will need a sling for your rifle, and there will be at least one prop gun that will be off the clock before you start the stage. We will use a clamshell, swinger, star, plate rack, flash targets and anything else we can scrape up in the garage. Expect the moving platform to make its return but we might be doing some pistol work off of it this time, or maybe both.. Gonna be a hoot..

If you think you can make an MGM flash at 300 yards with it, knock yourself out. :)

Actually, this match will follow our 3-gun rules but in the interest of heat and hydration issues, we just are not going to shoot shotgun.

Many a great 3-gunner does mighty well with a red dot, as long as the dot is not too big to cover the 10" plate at 300 yards. Yours truly will be shooting good old fashioned iron sights.

Thanks, Mike, that's what I needed to know.

On a side, but related note, what's the best way to attach a sling swivel/stud to an STI/NC handguard?

Change of plans. It looks like Jesse will be running this one and it will be all 3 guns. I am sure he will post round counts as well as times for setup.

I feel your pain Dave. I have lost interest in shooting in the heat. I publicly admit I have become a wimp when it comes to heat! :)

I parked my car under the nearest tree to the long range in the action pistol area early Tuesday afternoon. When I got back in the thermometer read 113. In the shade. That was around 2PM. The weatherman's best kept secret is that temperature at ground level varies widely across relatively short distances. Welcome to the jungle.

I have a shotgun, I just need to make more shellholders. I appreciate the offer!

But I need to be careful of the heat, as I am running the Carrygun match that night.

You make shellholders? Pics in another thread if you would... ;)

I feel the same way, I'm not looking forward to shooting in the heat, but I'm also not good enough to be missing these matches.
