ProAm is also a blast with a shotgun (see what I did there?).
I have no experience with ProAm, so do I need to bring birdshot to try this with my shotgun?

Were not using shotgun this time around, it's just a fun adder to our steel challenge match & we have no shotgun division in steel challenge.

I was just mentioning that Renato's actual ProAm match is fun to shoot with shotgun, where there is a division for it.

Newbie here. What kind of gear do I need to bring? How many mag pouches or are they needed? Will be shooting glock 34

With a Center Fire pistol, you'll be drawing from a holster. Pouches really are not needed, but I prefer at least one. This allows for a spare ready to correct a malfunction or reload if needed. With no misses, you'll only need 5 rounds per string or 25 per stage. You should be easily able to get by with 3 magazines, reloading every second string.
Eye and ear protection and prepare to have a good time.

Or one of you could buy the Ruger 22/45 I've got listed and shoot from low ready. I'll even toss in enough ammo to get about anybody except Burk thru the whole match.

First, welcome to the forum.

Second, since you're a newbie and a FF, you get to shoot in your bunker gear and SCBA.

79 shooters....WOW
A couple of things I'd like to mention....
1. Thank you all for coming out & making the matches a fun & enjoyable time.

2. I'd like to thank Renato for graciously offering to bring his steel & set up the ProAm stage, to give you guys that hadn't seen it before a little exposure to that type of match.

3. PRE-REGISTER!!! Not just this match but for all matches that it's available, the MD will appreciate it.
We had 79 shooters yesterday. The match announcement was posted here on BoomeShooter, Facebook, the OKCGC Webpage, & sent via EMail. In every form of posting, the link to pre-registration was provided. Out of 79 we only had a handful that actually used online pre-registration. If Everyone used the online pre-registration, the sign in process on match day would be cut to about 25% of the time it takes. Basically, it becomes a check in & pay instead of me having to sign you up, ask what division, member number, how to spell your name, ask again because I can't hear over all the chatter going on in the line, etc. Pre-registration is free & takes only a couple of minutes.

Is there a typical time pre-registration cuts off?
pre-registration usually closes the evening before the match

It's probably before 8 p.m., because one time I was trying to register at 11 p.m. and it was too late by then :( On the bright side, if you register online, you will know which squad is Tony on, so you can plan your Saturday accordingly :)
