OK Senate approves Open Carry-WITH NO LICENSE

Now...how long will the House stall around with this bill? Work the phones folks, work the phones!

Last year... they burned up enough time (on that limited- CCW contingent OC law) that they could not get the VETO overridden before the session ended.

Remember--- FALLIN SAID SHE'D SIGN AN OPEN CARRY BILL if one got to her desk.

I wonder how they landed on the age (18 yo). I'm not too crazy about that.

PS there is a good thread on "another forum" that is too lengthy to copy. My friend Brian (Veggie Meat) is following all of the open carry bills (yes there is more than one) He knows what all of the lingo means and can interpret it for us dummies.

The thread might be called "Open Carry?"

Burk,

Let not your heart be troubled. I get where you're coming from and I hesitated too but consider this: Colorado has been allowing concealed carry in vehicles by 18 year-olds for a long time now. Unless I'm mistaken, the gun crime rate went up in CO due to that at about the same rate as it did in OK when CC was passed here.

I know the two aren't precisely the same but I'm just putting that out there for consideration and debate. Oh, you'll get some dim bulbs carrying openly who are 18 or 19 years old but you'll get some 40-somethings with shallow brain pans, too. Of course, that may not have been your concern as was my speculation.

The gun crime rate went up or did you mean down???

Yes that is one of my concerns. But I am also torn because there are some God given rights that some people make me nervous when the excercise them. Carrying guns isn't the only one :)

Yes I know I am being hypocritical.

Yeah, sorry for the confusion on that one.

I also get where you're coming from about some people in the world.

Unfortunately, after seeing the jackassery that occurred jn the House last night, I don't think this bill has any chance once it reaches the other chamber.

And Sue Tibbs was a "yea". Go figure? What other bills still have a shot? What can we ammend or tack on to some others.

HB1647 can still be amended in the Senate.

SB129 can still be amended in the House. It can be amended in committee next Wednesday, or it can be discharged to the floor through a discharge petition. Failure to recommend an action is not a final action.

And of course, ANY bill out of committee can have a substitute made on the floor in either chamber.

Three of the 'Nay' votes were Republicans:

Cox, Joyner & Ownbey

What difference does that really make?
