The Women On Target Shooting Clinic, sponsored by the NRA, is held annually at the Oklahoma City Gun Club. This year it is scheduled for Saturday, September 10. This year's event is completely booked, but be sure to register early for next year, as it fills up very quickly (and early). This is an excellent opportunity for women of all ages to experience handling a firearm for the first time, while in a safe and friendly environment.
I will be out there as a volunteer, most likely "pulling" for the ladies at the shotgun range. If any of you "guys" know of women that may be interested, please share this information with them. :)

Hey, Sandy thanks for telling us about an event that we can't get into until next year................... :)

Just kidding. My cousin is big into the WOT program. If you see a short cute blonde girl named Chris Petty, tell her you know me.

This is her on the left. Here is an article in American Hunter.

I read the article; that's pretty cool!

I think it's a good way to get women interested in firearms, hopefully leading them to get their Concealed Carry license & further instruction, so they can defend themselves.

Had a great time today at OKCGC helping out with the women's shooting clinic! I believe there were over 300 participants.
I was assigned to work with Mark V. from Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office on the shotgun range. It was great to see the excitement from the ladies that had never fired a shotgun before break the clay targets! :D

Good to hear you had a good turn out, and sounds like everybody had a great time.

I have a question. How did you run that many people through that program.

Our Women on Target is next weekend, and we have a limit of 40.

How much time did each squad get at each station?

We have one hour each at 5 stations.

We had a waiting list, and would have loved to put them through the program, but the time thing wasn't going to make it happen.

How long was your program, totally? 8am-3pm?

Maybe we go too deep into the instruction? ours is pretty detailed.

Thanks in advance for any info. :D

Prdator.....could you give some info. on how things are scheduled for this event? Thanks!

I am sure prdator can give you some good info. tomorrow. If not, he will be able to point you in the right direction.

Suzi has lots of help!!!!!!!
The ladies are broke up into four groups and each group has a guide that stays with them from range to range. Each range gets about an hour and like on the handgun range we had 5-7 per coach and once they had gone though the guns on one table they could move to another if there was time. The instructions are VERY basic.... that's all they need/want at this type of event, get there feet wet and then try and get them to look at shooting as a positive thing.
We feed them lunch give a bunch of stuff away and it only cost them $10 for the day... can't beat it!!
IF you need/want more info PM me .

Thanks
S
