Just got this in an email from Magpul. I guess the hippies are restless.

Colorado Residents contact your elected officials and show up at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver on Tuesday, February 12th starting at 9:00am and going throughout the day to voice your opposition to HB1224: "Prohibiting Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines"

Join us at the Colorado State Capitol Tuesday, February 12, at 9:00am.

In addition to the national battle to protect our firearms rights, many states are currently engaged in their own fights. Here in Colorado, a state with a strong heritage of firearm and other personal freedoms, we are facing some extreme challenges to firearms rights. We have been engaged in dialogue with legislators here presenting our arguments to stop legislation from even being introduced, but our efforts did not deter those with extreme views.

After the NRA's visit last week, several anti-freedom bills were introduced by Colorado legislators, and a very aggressive timeline has been set forth in moving these bills forward.

The bills include:

HB 1229, Background checks for Gun Transfers-- A measure to prohibit private sales between Colorado residents, and instead require a full FFL transfer, including a 4473.

HB 1228, Payment for Background Checks for Gun Transfers-- A measure that would require Colorado residents to pay for the back logged state-run CBI system (currently taking 3 times the federally mandated wait time for checks to occur) instead of using the free federal NICS checks.

And finally, HB 1224, Prohibiting Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines-- A measure that bans the possession, sale, or transfer of magazines over 10 round capacity. The measures and stipulations in this bill would deprive Colorado residents of the value of their private property by prohibiting the sale or transfer of all magazines over 10 rounds. This bill would also prohibit manufacture of magazines greater than 10 rounds for commercial sale out of the state, and place restrictions on the manufacture of military and law enforcement magazines that would cripple production.

We'd like to ask all Colorado residents to please contact your state legislators and the members of the Judiciary Committee and urge them to kill these measures in committee, and to vote NO if they reach the floor.

We also ask you to show your support for the 2nd Amendment at the Capitol on Tuesday, Feb 12, for the magazine ban committee hearing and Wednesday, Feb 13, for the hearing on the other measures.

Due to the highly restrictive language in HB 1224, if passed, and we remained here, this measure would require us to cease PMAG production on July 1, 2013.

In short, Magpul would be unable to remain in business as a Colorado company, and the over 200 jobs for direct employees and nearly 400 jobs at our subcontractors and suppliers would pick up and leave Colorado. Due to the structure of our operations, this would be entirely possible, hopefully without significant disruption to production.

The legislators drafting these measures do so in spite of the fact that nothing they are proposing will do anything to even marginally improve public safety in Colorado, and in fact, will leave law-abiding Colorado residents less able to defend themselves, strip away rights and property from residents who have done nothing wrong, and send nearly 700 jobs and millions in tax revenue out of the state.

We like Colorado, we want to continue to operate in Colorado, but most of all, we want Colorado to remain FREE.

Please help us in this fight, and let your voices be heard!

We have included the contact information for the House Judiciary committee for your convenience:

I love Colorado. Great hunting and fishing opportunities, but the attitude about guns has me puzzled.

I'm sure its a John Denver thing, and the celebs that have bought property around there to "get back to nature" that have sponsored these bastions of idiots.

That's the problem........... the liberals have moved in! They sHI* in their home state then move elsewhere to spread their liberal disease. I used to love dirt bike riding in the mountains and sport bike touring as well but I think other states are in need of my tourist dollars now.

Dear Magpul,

What will it take to move you to Oklahoma? Our legislature will probably kick in a good chunk if you play their game. We'll do a kickstarter or a bake sale (selling Brownies to your former friends in Colorado) to fund the rest.

Dreaming of a Magpul factory outlet,
Fleche

I just watched the live feed and it passed committee. They passed the background check and the mag ban. They just now adjurned.

Hey Magpul! Take your $48,000,000 and your 700 employees and come to OK. We'll let you keep some of those dollars to move your employees. Deal?

So if this holds on Monday is Rocky Mountain 3 gun dead? If I understand correctly the background check and magazine ban passed a voice vote today.

Colorado's votes capping magazine sizes and requiring background checks for all gun purchases came after eight hours of debate. The votes were preliminary and unrecorded, but they were the first chance for many lawmakers to debate gun control after mass shootings last year in Aurora, Colo., and Newtown, Conn.

Seems like this is a great opportunity for the Great State of Oklahoma to pull their heads together and start contacting our local reps and legislators and our Govnernor since she is a CC carrier about contacting MagPul and start working on a deal to get them to Oklahoma.

Well we could tell Colorado we would take our hunting, fishing, skiing, rafting, hiking and summer time vacations to New Mexico. It's usually cheaper anyway and a shorter drive. But I don't think you can smoke a doobie without breaking the law.
