Build by Doug Turnbull. The woodwork is awesome.

I like that finish, it actually is functional while looking nice!. They heat up the bare metal to varying degrees and then dip it in oil. The metal absorbs the oil as well, preserving it while giving it that mottled, sometimes rainbow like look. First time I had ever seen it was on a custom 1911, boy was that one beautiful sidearm! That name is mighty familiar, he might have been the one who had done that 1911. I think it was about 5 years ago...

the Turnbull bone charcoal process on this AR is different than that oil-heat treatment I was thinking about, but it looks to have similar results. I need to go through my magazines to find out now, otherwise it's going to bug the hell out of me!

Awsome rifle! But how would I mount my: lazer, scope, acog, back up eotech, MBUS, dual flash light setup, vertical grip, bipod, 45 degree back up sights, and bayonet?

You could buy my three rail scope to add some of your gizmos.
That could do it!

In all seriousness I would really like to have them build me a 30-30 in this style. It would be too tempting to shoot it and i'm not in the buisness of collecting things i can't shoot at this time.

Well at least you have all the necessary appurtenances for properly dressing up an AR!

*Returning the sarcasm in kind. That was a good one! ;)

I was just looking around out of curiosity and Brownells has wood AR furniture in stock for carbine and rifle length. I think with the usual receiver treatments it would look like crap but with nice metal work (like above) it make a classy hunting rifle. Maybe one of these days I'll do one up for my dad, he would like it. Here's a couple posted up on AR15.com, not too bad.

That is an AR-10. The upper and lower were machined from steel. That is why they were able to apply that type of finish to the .metal

I have to admit it's a beautiful rifle. I've driven by their shop dozens of times but their stuff, while top notch, was and is out of my price range.
