NEW GUN DAY!

I just got myself a late Christmas present. Bought my first 1911. It is a Rock Island Armory M1911-A1 CS. I ran over to Quickshot after I got it & was very pleased with its performance.:D :D :D

So, as we are talking the Rock Islands? I have some questions.

Are they GOOD guns? Is the metal up to par, or cheap?
Are they ACCURATE? From what Ford has posted, I take it they are acceptable?
Are they STANDARD? Meaning, are the parts interchangable with other 1911's?

I like the look. The parkerized finish is what I would want in a 1911.

Maybe Ford will let me shoot his someday so I can see for myself?

Looks nice. I wish I had a 4" 1911...I have a 5" and 3" but I feel like the 4" would be the perfect middle ground for concealed carry.

Enjoy!

I have read quite a bit about them, almost all of it positive & spoken to several gunsmiths in town who seem to think that they are excellent entry 1911's.
They are made of 4140 chromoly steel and even the least expensive are supposedly mil-spec (they have upgraded models from there, the CS obviously has the extended beavertail & skeletonized hammer.)
I am no marksman but with the 2nd mag I put through it I was able to fire 6 touching rounds with 1 round pulled away from group (my fault, not the weapons!) at 15 feet.

I am going to try to make it to the next Shootzenfest & you are welcome to try it! Or maybe we will run into each other at the range even before that. If you shoot Ford's stuff first you will be ruined - he has some nice ones!

Thanks,

They call this one a Colt Officer model I believe & say that it has a 3.5" bull barrel (whatever that means.)

Congrats! I've never heard anything bad about RIA's; they're pretty damn decent for the price!

I had the 5" Rock Island. When it was new...had lots of FTF and FTfires,,,But after about 500 rounds, it never missed. It was very dependable and accurate. I used it as my truck gun for a long time...Wish I still had it....but, things don't stay around me to long. Seams like there is always someone that want my guns worse than I do...and so I have to let them go...
