What caliber(s) do you intend to load? Some idea of the volume of cartridges you anticipate loading?
I loaded on a single stage press for many years. After I started shooting cowboy action my ammo consumption rate went WAY up and I upgraded to a progressive press.

Wow thanks for the overwhelming response! You guys are awesome. Well the calibers would be 9mm 45acp & some 38. Round counts wouldn't be more than a couple of hundred in a month. Rifle rounds would be 223, 338LM and 30-06. The round count for the 223 would be a couple of hundred as well unless this really is a money saver then I may be able to shoot a lot more. The 30-06 and 338 would be very low. I intend to get the recommended books ASAP, hopefully today, even if I have to order off amazon. It also seems pretty clear a single stage press is where I need to start so I'll get to work researching those and if I find something I think is a good deal I will let everyone know what I've found and in would be very greatful for your guys feedback. Thanks again for everyone's help and based on the calibers and round counts if there's anything else i should research please let me know that as well. One more thing. In looking I've noticed a lot of "kits" are these worth looking into or should I assemble everything individually?

Take a look at the Lee Classic Turret press. Make sure it's the "Classic" with the heavy base. It features automatic indexing; you handle the case one time which is a big timesaver over a single stage but it's much less complicated and expensive than a progressive.

i went from single stage to the lee turret to the lee pro 1000.
lee turret is ok but if you learn on a single i think you can skip the turret press. with the turret it takes 3 lever pulls for 1 bullet. with the pro 1000 its one pull/one bullet.
you gotta learn to adjust the dies on both. my turret ending up being parts for the pro 1000.
