New to reloading

I just ordered the Lee 4 Hole Turret Press with Auto Index Deluxe Kit and the 45acp, 9mm and 380 dies and a couple extra turrets. I am excited to start reloading my own ammo even though the press is still weeks away from making it here. I just need to procure some brass, primers, powder, and lead for the listed calibers if anyone has anything they want to sale let me know. I also would be interested in someone helping me set the press up when it gets here since I have never done any reloading.

Dade61782, congrats on your venture into reloading. Your choice on a Lee press is a good one for starters. It was my first press, and I still use it to this day! Setup instructions that come with the press are pretty straight foreward, ad are easy to follow. My only sugestions are to:

1.) Pick up a copy of the ABC's of reloading, and read it while you await delivery,
2.) After you setup, check and double check all your weights and measurements.

Yeah I have read Reloading for Handgunners and I am looking for another read so I will check into that. The set-up videos I have seen on Youtube look pretty straight forward but I am kinda partial to my fingers and would be alot more comfortable if I had a little of experience to show me the ropes. I know I am getting into reloading at a bad time with the shortage and guess I have just joined the panic but I really don't like the idea of not being able to find ammo and defiantly don't like the gouging that is going on by the sorry people that find the ammo and buy it all up just to make a profit. So decided to start "rolling my own" and hopefully one day will start saving a little $ at the range.
 
Along with the previously mentioned items, get a couple of reloading manuals from places like Speer or Hornady. They have sections in the front explaining how to reload too. The Lyman manual is good too. As long as you stay above the minimum and below maximum, you should be ok!
 
Right there with you brother. My Lee Challenger set with a single stage press came last week. Most everything is Lee, including the manual. I'm enjoying just reading about the history of ammo and reloading, cool stuff. I have to pick up some hardware to mount the press, finish studying, practice and train, then load load load.

That would be awesome biganimal !!!! my press won't be in until around the first of march and I will be at work till the 15th so maybe we can work it out around our schedules. kg4kpg you interested? maybe we can get together in one of our garages and have a small learning session.

I can help, schedules permitting, but I have been loading for just 27 years.
 
Anyone know of any powder w-231 or similar and small and large pistol primers in the low country. I wanted to go to the gun show but have to leave for work and won't be able to make it.
 
I doubt it's the cheapest but ATP had rifle and pistol primers for 4 to 5 bucks per hundred. Federal, Winchester, CCI.
 
If they do, it's a miracle. Every place I've been in the last week or so is out of primers, or only have magnum and large rifle.
 
Got my press in yesterday pretty excited!!! Biganimal, Chili, or anyone else have time to give me some pointers and show me the ropes? Lunch Or supper and your Beverage of choice will be on me.
 
If this goes down I'd like to be there. I've been reloading for about 3 years now but it's all been self-taught. I'm always wondering what I'm missing or not doing efficiently.

Right now Im trying to book a flight up north because my dad is in the hospital
But I should be free next week in the evenings or saturday morning
 
I set up my press yesterday, it was pretty straightforward, I made up some dummy 45 rounds using Berry's 185gr round nose hollow base bullets with no primer or powder. I used a factory round to set the press up most of my questions are about belling and the factory crimp die.
