I'm looking to change out the sights on my five inch XD 9mm. Any thoughts on what would be the best way to go? Right now I am leaning towards the Dawson fiber optics with the adjustable rear. I can't decide whether I want the wide or narrow front sight. All ideas and opinions appreciated.

If your using it for fast competition then I recommend warren-Sevigny fiber optics, with a fixed rear. Wide notch, narrow front.

If your using it for bullseye shooting then you'll want narrow notch, wider front.

Why adjustable rear sight? You can change your front sight height to change elevation poi and not have to deal with something that could move on you. If your windage is off, drift the sight the correct direction.

I just like the idea of the adjustable sight if I want to experiment with different loads. What adjustable sights did you have trouble with? I understand that you can drift for windage and change front blades but XD's are a notorious pain in the ass to mess with and I figured the adjustable rear would alleviate some of that.

My sight breakage was with an EAA Limited. It was their "supersight".
I swapped it out for the Henning fixed rear and now life is bliss.

I think you should just knock the sights off it and go without. Use a flat file and cut a groove down the center of the slide. Use the groove as a "hawg trough for your lead hose"

That is what the high speed guys do.

I'm thinking he says that before he uses his grenades.

I'm in the market for an adjustable rear sight for my M&P 5" pro.
The Novaks shoot low, and there is a light tube on the front so no filing.

Matt, you need to quit throwing your pistol on the ground after a bad stage and those adjustable sights will quit breaking. :sarcastichand:

That "hash trough" is a great idea. Probably make it easier to figure your maximum point blank range.
