Hey guys. A guy I work with mentioned this site to me so I signed up. I've been shooting since I was a kid but never any competitive. I just moved to the Tulsa area about 6 months back and learned that there are local shooting matches everywhere! I did not have this type of exposure in my old town (Madill) if anyone knows where that's at. LoL. I was planning on going to my first match this coming weekend but I fear the weather will snub out those plans. I'm actually pretty ignorant when it comes to shooting sports but I pick it up quick as I've been in a range setting for over 10 years and have attended a few formal carbine and pistol fighting classes. I just got into shooting the match 5 last month and my first ever scored round I shot a 567 with a stock g17. So I'm not to terrible but I've got a ways to go. Look forward to keeping my yapper shut and reading for awhile.

Welcome to the partty Dawson. Check out some YouTube videis of IDPA, USPSA and 3-gun then hit us up with some questions. You're going to be glad you came out and shot a match and upset that you didn't do it years ago.

Welcome to the zoo! You'll be glad you joined SOME of these guys are a wealth of knowledge. Some like me, are completely full of crap. Enjoy the show.

Welcome Dawson! I have only been competing about a year myself, but on my third Glock, a G17. Getting pretty comfortable with stripping them and doing part mods. Contact me if I can help.

Welcome! I'm in the Tulsa area and starting my second year of various matches. I'll give you a holler sometime when I'm heading to the range and see if you want to go along.

Thanks fellers.

I actually watched 3GN this last weekend (I haven't had cable TV since college and didn't even know 3 gun, USPSA, or IDPA existed until about 5 days ago. hahahahaha.

Honestly, when I thought of competitive shooting, I thought of slow paced, paper target stuff that was available when I was a kid and that just didn't interest me. Guess Ive been living under a rock. I just found out that Haley Strategic is putting on a carbine class at USSA here pretty quick and a couple guys I work with are attending. I'll probably drop by there and heckle them. Ive attended an EAG "advanced carbine" class a couple years back in Austin Tx, so those types of classes are super fun. Even more fun is giving my buddies crap. Yes, I can be "that guy" every now and again. LOL

Matter of fact, Im about to offload a couple spare Grocks and a 7mm Mag and pick up a BCM rifle just for the 3 gun I think. Ive been wanting to buy a BCM (Ive got a Colt 6920 already) for a couple years and so 3 gun is a great excuse to do so.

I look forward to meeting you guys. Remind me to tell yall my joke referencing the Pope......

Not to spoil you're desire for a BCM but they don't make a 3-gun type rifle that I'm aware of. Bring your colt out to the next match and see what and why we use what we use. You'll be wanting one of these sexy Rhino Armd rather then a BCM pretty soon.

Will do.

My reasoning for the BCM is a little more than just for 3 gunning. I'm going to run my Colt a few times FOR SURE. My Colt is set up with so much crap its heavy and impractical for the multi gun. We weighed it last year and I wanna say its well over 11 lbs. I've learned one thing in my life, its to run what *works* for a little while so I can see what I *want* and what's better later on. I've got a drawer full of crap that I bought thinking it would be gtg only to find out it absolutely sucked for my application. I need to work on loading a shotgun with a quickness honestly. That's my biggest fail point right now, I'd be willing to bet.

That is a nice rifle btw. For sure

If you ever need or want to borrow anything before you buy don't heitste to ask. The guys on this forum and guys at most matches will gladly let you run their guns. My Benelli race gun is like that one girl in high school that the whole team has fingered at least once. But she's still sweet!

Hahaha!

That's funny.

I'm sure I'll take you up on that.

I've read up on those rhino rifles. Sweeeeet looking heaters.

Enjoy the show! Lots o fun here... You are welcome to run my gear anytime. There is always somebody willing to help a brother out.

Your colt will treat you just fine. I used my LE6920 for a few matches. Only upgrades were alpha rail and a red dot. Worked great to get my feet wet.
