I got there this morning about 11:15. Parking lot was almost full...

Went in to buy my Membership....I was number 2. Someone else beat me....Oh well..

Nice place. You can see the people shooting from the front counter.

They had quite a few rental guns. I also saw a Kriss full auto, and an Ak47 full auto. They had a couple more but I didn't have time to check them out.

This is going to be a favorite hangout for me.

They will be open Sunday afternoon and open this Monday...If you are bored, you might go check it out.

I left a stack of Forum cards on the counter. Please mention you are a member here when you stop by...Can't hurt...

I saw the stack of cards - nice move Steve.
They had a fair number of people in there a round noonish, hope they do well.

FFL transfer seems steep, HHB just from $15 to $20.

i would think the FFL is just a way to get folks to actually step in to a brick & mortar store.

esp since they are at the far end of town.

how much before the $300 annual membership pay for it itself?

Here is my take on the membership fee's.

My Nephew and I shoot almost every Saturday. That means he drives from his house on James Island to my house in Hanahan. Then, I drive from Hanahan to Boggy Head range. That is a total to me of 80 miles round trip. Thenm he drives about 25 miles...

The fuel cost alone are around $35.00 a trip for me. That is not counting his...and, not even figuring any guns and ammo or anything else...

At the new range, it is about in the middle for each of us...We can meet there a couple of times a week for an hour and do a lot of shooting.

Boggy Head usually takes at least 5 hours between drive time and shooting...

I am old...I have to take a nap after going to Boggy Head...Going to the indoor range, I might even have time to do stuff like mow my yard and other foolish stuff...

And, I can drive over there, shoot for awhile, drive home and not have to take a nap...

I will still go to Boggy Head...but, I can drive a few minutes and shoot 7 days a week, if I want to...and save money...

Just my take...your milage may differ...LOL

I drive 500 miles round trip from Charlotte to shoot a Boggy Head . . .
I'm old too - I like to take a nap after going to Boggy Head
I do plan to investigate the next time I visit. Charleston.
I noticed the reference to the AK47, so they'll let you shoot long arms. Wonder if I can shoot my new Mosin Nagant?
;)

I was talking to them yesturday about long guns. He said that the range could hold almost anything. He said I could bring the Garand...but, his only problem was the noise. The high caliber rifles were LOUD....and that might cause him some problems with his neighbors.

They rent full auto ar's and ak's...so the ak would be no problem...I just don't think it is the place to go with the Mosin...it is a little loud.

Hi all, this is my first post here although I've stopped by before. With regard to the new range on this side of the river, I joined last Saturday and I've been back every day since and I'm going again today. I worked as RSO there yesterday. I live 5 miles from Quickshot in West Ashley.

Actually I'd done a years membership at Trader World back in July but there are some factors for me personally that made joining Quickshot a no brainer the biggest of which is long guns. I have a MAK90 and two Saiga-12s and to have a place to shoot them just 10 minutes away is a very good thing for me. No, I can't practice really reaching out at a 50 foot range but to be able to shoot them rain or shine, especially the Saigas (which I really love) is still fun for me.

Another small thing is no restriction on rate of fire. It's nice now and then to be able to do double taps or dump a mag if you wish. Of course doing this eats the ammo but knowing someone's not going to come running if you do a double tap is a good thing. It's not allowed on Cross County road, ask me how I know. ;)

I understand the concerns about cost and everyone has to make up their own minds but for me, to be able to shoot my Saigas pretty much whenever I want, it's a good deal.

See you there,

Ken

Yeah I have been yelled at before on cross county too. I didn't think I was even firing that fast. I definitely had control of my firearm and had the target to prove it. I prefer to shoot my rifles most days anyway.

What is the weekend crowd like? Are people waiting around for a lane?

It picked up yesterday after the thunderstorm passed through but I haven't seen it get to the point that people were waiting on spots yet. I spend some time just hanging out up front and a lot of people just come in and talk to the manager, get a flyer and leave. So once the word gets out I imagine there will be times when it's full. They haven't really done any advertising.

I just got a Burris Fast Fire III for one of my Saigas so I'm going in a few to do a little sighting in...

I'm having to adjust to the fact they only allow slugs. I've got a pretty good supply of cheap 00 Buck (Rio) but as I'm sure you know slugs are a tad pricey. I'm working on taking Wally World stuff, the Winchester Universal, removing the shot and putting a slug back in. I have a Lee melter and mold for 7/8 oz. on the way. A lot of guys on the board I've been on for some time do this regularly and they say it works well.

Oh yeah, if anyone would like to go and shoot there let me know, members can bring guests, no charge. PM me.

I went in on the 4th in the AM, @ 11:30, it seemed like I was the first one there. The fella I talked with was pretty laid back, which was a shock. I rented the H&K UMP 40 and only had enough cash on me for 1 box of ammo. Damn, I wish those weren't post '86, I love that thing. I had a real nice experience, meaning: no nasty sideways looks, friendly staff, a real orderly well light range, and they not only acknowledged my presence when I got first got there, they were customer attentive right up until I left. Unlike the "other place" we all know of. I hope they continue with the great customer service, they should do well.

I went one evening last week with a couple of friends & I can attest to the staff being friendly.

New member "Ken" was the RSO when we went. He saw my .357 snubbie that was similar to his and let me check out some larger grips that he had replaced on it. He even insisted that I fire his to feel the difference! He was great. I was telling him about Shootzenfest - I am certain that he would fit right in!

We went over around 6:30 and had no wait for 3 adjoining lanes - had the place to ourselves by 7:00pm...
I thought that it was a good experience & much more convenient for me to go there as I live on James Island.

Welcome to the forum Ken - I hope that you will find everyone as friendly, interesting and informative as I have.

-Jeff

I went by this afternoon...I need some gun powder smoke..

The guy were nice as usual...They all wanted to see my Kimber with the new White Water Buffalo grips from Viet Nam....They all checked them out and loved them...

My membership ccard was there waiting on me. I am now a card carring gun nut.. I spent about an hour there and got to shoot all I wanted to...

I always meet new people there...Of course, you all know that I will talk to a tree if there is noone else around...

I put more Forum cards out on the counter..Lots of people are picking up the cards...I need more to take over there.

If anyone wants to go...I can take one guest free...Let me know...

Steve

Paco...The range is located in West Ashley. So from Isle of Palms your looking at a 20-30 minute drive. I too am on vaction (in Michigan though) otherwise I would invite you over to try out the range.
