Hey guys I have recently decided to start USPSA shooting (have shot PPC for about 3 years now) and am thinking about shooting the Production Sectional in Tulsa. I was wondering if any clubs were having some classifier matches in September so I could try and get classified before October if that's possible.

Thanks

Welcome to the board.

You don't need to be classified to participate in the sectional but if you really wanted to be classified, you could go to at least 4 matches in September.

Oklahoma has a lot of options that Burk has put into a nice calendar: https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=burk.cornelius%40gmail.com&ctz=America/Chicago

OKCGC, Safety 1st, Ponca City, USSA, ITPS, SCRAP, ATA, and H&H.

There's also USPSA matches in Wichita every Friday night and in Wellington on 4th Sunday I think.

Yea I knew I didn't have to be classified to shoot I was just trying to get that way before the match. So do local matches count toward you classification? I read the FAQ on USPSA but couldn't quite figure out if you had to shoot 4 classifier stages or if local matches would work as well.

USPSA sanctioned local matches will have 1 classifier per match.
Ponca and H&H will run an occasional all classifier match, but I'm not sure if they have one planned soon.

BTW, welcome..

USPSA up dates the classifications system aprox. the 15th of each month.
(Score must be submitted before the 15th to get in the classification system (Not the date you shot the match)

So you could get classified if clubs get they scored sent in before the OCT 15 update.

A quick question.
Where do you shoot PPC?

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Terry I shoot PPC for Norman PD, I usually only shoot at the Regional and State match every year but with the Pistol Team we practice one a month April-September
with your PPC background you are setup for a great start in USPSA. Welcome! We need more Popo in the sport.

Yes Jamie I did. Didn't do as hot as I wanted to but definitely did better than in years past. You would be surprised how much a PPC Competition Revolver improves your shooting over a XDm 5.25....HA! I thought I recognized your name on the Production Staff list but wasn't sure until I got on here and saw you photo obviously? You still working for the CH haven't had the need to go by your office in a while.

Mike that's what I am hoping for, I love the PPC Stuff but the static nature of it doesn't quite lend itself to what I assume the dynamics of a real gunfight would involve. That's what I'm hoping to gain from the USPSA competitions.

Welcome Cole ! It's always good to have police come out. We had 3 guys from the OCPD pistol team come to the H&H match last weekend and they loved it.

There were also 2 Nicoma Park cops out there on my squad.

Hum... not trying to run your life here, but sounds to me like you have enough experience and maturity to move all the way up to start shooting ProAm... just saying...

To be honest if I felt comfortable doing that I would but being that I've never shot any action pistol matches I wouldn't be comfortable doing that right off the bat. Now don't get me wrong I'm all about jumping up and bouncing in on the ProAm as soon as comfortably and safely possible.
