This is my first post.
I like 1911's and the wide range of Combat Tupperware. I am an amateur gunsmith and am good at makin 1911 triggers light and crisp. Also, I have experience with Springfield XD & Glock but, mostly I like to make them go BANG!!!! I am looking forward to tapping into the knowledge base of the Forum.

Welcome! Have you tried any if the great action shooting matches in Tulsa yet?

Havent tried any matches yet I am 62 and had a hip and knee replaced on the same side within a year and don't know if I will be able to handle the physical end of a match. sounds like fun though. Do they have a division for old folks that dont move too fast?

Come on out, I'm sure you'll find that most of us don't move too fast. :D

Steel Challenge requires very little leg movement if any. Check it out! Both USSA and Oil Capital have matches I believe. You can shoot just about any caliber pistol and sometimes even .22 rifles too

I have burned some powder at USSA real nice facility. Never shot any of the steel before but it sounds like a lot of fun. Do you have to shoot frangible ammo or can you shoot hard ball? I like to practice some double taps to center mass and one to the central processor and USSA is one of a few shooting facilities that allow that kind of practice without an instructor present.

Sounds like fun. I Just got a new XDm 45 and It has some digestion problems with Reloads. It shoots Hornady factory ammo just fine but it does not like my reloads. My Kimber gobbles them up and begs for more. I use 6.8 grains of 800X and a Berrys DS 230 grain plated bullet seated to OAL of I believe it was 1.270. I am still in the learning curve for auto loaders and was wanting to get the XDM running smooth before I tried any competitive shooting.

Frangible is not required. Most of us shoot FMJ or hard cast lead. A's long A's it's not steel core/armor piercing your good to go.

Factory length for 45acp is 1.25 I think you may need to try a shorter load length. In the Loads that work section there are alot of .45 recipes you can try.
