New gun troubles?

I went from a Glock 24 to a 6" STI, and I am having a hard time getting use to this new platform. At matches it seems I can't hit crap, but after the match I will go check my zero, and see where I am hitting, and it is DEAD ON. I mean from 10 to 35 yards it is hitting bullseye every time. Has anyone else ever had this trouble or am I just a retard? It is kind of worrying me because this is the gun I am going to shoot Area 4 with, and this is just one more thing that is going to play head games with me. Any advise?

When you check your zero and get good hits, shoot like that in matches. I know you can get your hits, so do you, watch your sights and shoot the targets.

Its a new platform, it'll take a couple thousand rounds to get a good feel for it. Just keep with it and things will work out.

stop squeezing so hard with strong hand. it wont allow you to feel the prep as well as you would if you relaxed that hand

Feegee quit trying so damn hard! remember when you got the 24? slow down a bit and get to know the pistol, dry fire that sucker and figure out the trigger and how to get it prepped and not send off AD's and oh did I say quit thinking so much about it ;-) Later,

I don't have any constructive feedback. But you will learn greatly from having someone cat lady at you in practice.

Prep is great...... If it's a technical shot. Honestly if it's most of the shots in uspsa prep overrated. Each stage, match is unique and each shot requires a different set of skills.

Watch any top shooter on you tube in slow motion and really watch their trigger. There is lots of slapping.

It took me about a year to get as accurate with my 2011 on every shot compared to my Glock. The lighter, shorter trigger on a 2011 requires much less input to pull which requires much more finesse to feel everything you should feel as you prep and pull the trigger.

A Glock trigger being longer and heavier forces you to always be working reset and prep whereas a 2011 if you do the same thing you did to a Glock it goes bang before your ready for it to go bang.

Not sure if that makes sense on paper???

I think what I'm trying to say is its easy to get sloppy on a 2011 trigger compared to a Glock.

WOW I changed holsters worked on my grip,slowing down and trigger prep, and holly crap what a improvement!! I did not have a mike until last stage. I shot 100% better today than I have since I have had this gun. Thanks everyone for your tips and advice. I think if I work on all these fundamentals I should improve every match.

Get a triple crown holster made for that gun and youll get yur .4 draw

Feegee, some of those shots today were not easy, wide open shots at targets. I thought you shot some pretty tight groups today on some tough target layouts. Maybe it was the layouts that made you focus a little more on the front sight and follow through, instead of just running as fast as you can through and array.

Anyway, sounds like you're on the road to recovery, which sucks! I (like a bunch of others) thought we were going to get to pick up a 6" STI for a steal.
