Because I just don't have the patience to sit around and wait. I understand some people will for up to a year for a pistol, how can someone do that? I was told when I ordered my rifle it would be 4-6 weeks, now on their website, it says 6-8 weeks. This Thursday will be 8 weeks and I'm growing more impatient by the day. I don't know what it is, maybe it's because I've been shooting the OKC 3-gun for two years with my M&P15 and I don't want to shoot it again this month. The next time I buy something customized, most likely a pistol, it's going to be from someone local that's already done the waiting.

I waited for 18 weeks on an AR upper in .243WSSM, got it, and it wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn shooting 100 grain bullets. Checked the twist, and found it was not what I ordered. I specified a twist for .55 grain. Another 18 weeks for a replacement after a whole lot of back and forth on the phone. Finally got the one I ordered, and it shot really well. A year later the guy called me, and asked if I had work waiting to be done, as he had a barrel with my name on it, and he didn't know what for.......

Don't ever get any NFA items. If you think 8 weeks is a long time, you'll kill yourself waiting on a suppressor or something.

I waited almost a year for my first JP rifle. It was well worth it too. It did suck waiting though.

I've built a few rifles for myself and dude it takes time to get all the stuff together! if you want something that is DIFFERENT better be ready for a wait. Don't order anything around tax return time for sure cause those 3-5 week lead times will shoot to 9-15 weeks pretty sure you know why.

I would say an average for me to build a rifle would take on average 5 months, now these are not AR's but LR rigs for an AR if all goes right I could see maybe a month BUT if something gets goofed even a little spring things take longer cause people have to wait to get the stuff to build. Depends what side of the fence your on how you look at wait times, me I plan a month wait on a barrel, up to 3 months on a stock and figure about 3 days to get everything cut and fitted and put together. That's just 1 rifle that is mine multiply that by how many folks ordered a rifle that day might kinda see the light a little better. Later,

I feel your pain.... I have a 1 year wait on my new pistol, and my new JP AR is at least going to be 8-10 weeks.....I am impatient as well, but I know once I get them it will be worth it....hopefully the finished product is good enough to justify it.

I took 3 years on one build and was it worth it? HELL YES! I can't plop $3500 down for a rifle but I CAN stretch things and while I might not have it right then I'll get there. Later,

Kirk

I just got a call from JP this morning and my rifle should be done today. We'll see what shipping does with it now, could I have by this weekend...

While I can sure appreciate these company's taking there time to get it right, they could do it like those who built our house during he building frenzy and hire temporary people who will just slap things together for near minimum wage without a care, but there is no way I could wait 1-2 years for a new gun.

I think you would be suprised how small most of these gun companies are. I've never been to JP but I bet there are less than 12 employees.

If money were not an issue, and taking into account the expereince and joy I've had with my Accurate Iron 2011, I would never buy an off-the-shelf gun again. Custom gun is the way to go.

I don't guess I have ever felt the need for a custom weapon. For a few bucks I can make any off the shelf pistol work great for me. I have shot a few and they are pretty nice, but I have never felt the need to purchase anything like that. I shot a custom CZ that was pretty amazing though.
