Needing some good advice

Yea what Kurt said. I actually prefer the balance beam type. I trust them more, because you can actually see if you are getting squirrely readings from air movement.

And Natgas, I just got my Dillon trimmer setup on my 650 and started trimming this pile of .223 that I have. This is the 1st time for .223 on this press, so I had to do a little tweaking on the case feeder. I've got it running pretty good now and I just deprimed, sized and trimmed 400 rounds in about 20 minutes. It's just stupid fast! Now I just need to figure out a way to swage primer pockets that fast and I'll have about 3k loaded in less than a week.

Scott,

I'm envious of your 650 already and I haven't even received my 550 yet. :)

I'm sure I'll be happy with mine and it probably won't be the only Dillon I buy

Just wanted to update my situation; received my 550 and got it all setup (with some very good help from Joe at Heartland). Finished my first 100 rounds of 45 today. Can't wait to go try them out

Thanks again to everyone who helped with my decision. I can see another 550 in my future (if not a 650).

100 rds!?! load 15,try them, and then go forth if they work for you and your gun. if you get a to long OAL thats a lot of bullet pulling

I'm checking each one as it's done; powder, seating, crimping; I also took the first
20 or so to Heartland and had Joe take a look.

He gave me his seal of approval! :)

Finally got to Heartland to test out a few of my first rounds. They performed flawlessly
2" groups at 10 yards; only fired 20 of them to make sure my recipe and everything was ok.

Now to get back to reloading; have lots and lots of material and will spend the next few evenings
stocking up

Lots of good information here. I know the Brian Enos forum has a lot of info on reloading, however, is there any videos that you guys suggest watching that show a pretty good view of the reloading process?

Plenty of them available on tube;you can also purchase a video from most press makers

btw, I'm picking up my 2nd 550 from Heartland on Friday!

Says the guy who was unsure if it was something he'd be in to.

Yeah, I know; it seems if I'm spending every minute I can at the bench. I never thought it would actually be fun to do this. I'm sure at some point I'll take a break---probably when I run out of materials and money! :)
