I started looking for an entry level rifle mount flashlight for lighting up varmints (coyote, beaver) from a scoped bolt action rifle. Laser Genetics - too pricey. Xenon scope mounted lights with red lenses - too bulky. I found this VRL-1 with red and green Cree modules for $140 on Cabela's. I also found came across this Aimshot Night Scout 870 Lumen Green LED at several places online for about $90. The most prevalent were these UltraFire WF-501B and WF-502B for about $30, but it seems only on Amazon and Ebay and they ship direct from China with long lead times.

I need help. Who locally has a selection for me? Alternately, which model (mentioned above or otherwise online) can any of you recommend? Tips for shopping?

I would start with gunbroker dot com, and Craigslist first! You might be surprised at what you find for good deals. (Surefire, streamlight, etc..)

I found a light that I think is awsome...It is a Rayovac...Got it at Batteries Plus...It was about $20.00 and the guy that sold it to me demoed it for me. He took it off the shelf and just threw it up in the air and let it bounce on the flook...
He said the advertise them on TV with a firetruck running over one and the fireman walks over and picks it up and it is still working.

I don't know what candle power it is putting out, but, it is the brightest light I ever had. It has a low and high settings, with a push button built in the back. It also has a little rack you pull out of the light and put 3 penlight batteries in it...

Before you spend a bunch of money on a light, you should check one of these out...

What's the OD, iow, will it fit in a scope ring? Usually the ones with 3 AA's in the little rack will. Thanks for the recommendation. Even if it doesn't fit the bill, I'm always looking for good flashlights.

SureFire X300

$184

There's no need to compromise and get something knock-off or unknown quality when you can have the industry standard (literally the company and product by which every single other flashlight manufacturer is measured against and compared to) for so cheap. Plus, the light has it's own incorporated mount.

Too. Frickin'. Easy.

I second this! Surefire & Streamlight are the best hands down.

I ordered a Nitecore MT25, just the light for now. I can add red or green filters later. It supposedly has one of the longest throws out there.

I found a super deal on DVOR - look under "Reach for the High Lumen Flashlights." If you're not already a member, here's my invitation link.
