National Slots USPSA

I applaud you for helping a buddy out but for future slots the section shouldn't allow them to be transferred. What stops my ten buddies that have no intention of shooting nationals to get in the mix so I have the best chance? If you're going to do a draw for the slots then draw. If the winner isn't going to shoot draw another name. Or let's shoot for the slots at the sectional match and let performance pick our nationals shooters.
 
Jesse, I respect your opinion, but I really don't think that was Seth and Eric intension, no one else has commented on them swapping places, so unless the majority doesn't have a problem with the way it was handled it will stay the same. If they do we can make the changes for next year.

I don't have a problem here either. But it has set a precedence for next time. If I can game a slot I'm gonna do it. Just giving you a heads up on the possibility of this going bad in the future.
 
Seth brought up a good point. Eric has been shooting nothing but Production for two years. He deserves the slot more than most of the guys that got a slot IMO.

Maybe the way you earn a slot should be based off of the more you shoot the more chances you get?
 
While I am planning on attending the match as well I didn't put in for the slot because I do not dedicate much time to production division. I like the lotto system over the buddy system but I feel that it should be limited to people that shoot the division. Does that make sense? Like next ear if I continue to be dedicated to the revolver division and they do slots like the other divisions I would think that the slots should be reserved for the shooters of that division. Sound fair?
 
How they give away the slots in south Texas:

They do 5 qualifier matches. You earn points shooting those matches for the division. They then use the best 3 of your matches to figure out the placing. Then they give the slots away.

I'm really impressed how organized the south Texas section is!!!

I like it. Reward the shooters that shoot. Bums like me that haven't shot a classifier all year shouldn't have the same opportunity as those that are dedicated to it because those shooters racking up the club matches are the reason we have the slots in the first place. Of course we should think about the shooters that can't shoot 50 matches a year like some guys. Maybe we should reserve a few slots for random draw and a slot for a junior shooter too?

Rob, I guess I'll throw my two cents in here. It seems to me if someone doesn't want the slot they won, it should go to the first alternate not someone they assign it to. I realize it is probably a moot point since most of us will get on the waiting list and get to shoot Nationals but it seems more fair to me.
 
In reality here is the sad part - if XXXXX win's a slot - nobody here will EVER know if he gives that slot to his buddy. Since the slots are paper slots - XXXXXX can get in his truck then do anything he wants with the slot.

I think what Seth did was very respectable knowing the time and energy Eric has put in to training and shooting production. I'm also happy that Seth volunteered to carry all my gear for me at Nats so I can stay fresher and not expel that extra energy!!!
 
I think rob has done a great job with the slots no one can say in the past they know who got the slots. I think once someone gets a slot it is theirs if they want to give it to someone else that is their choice. Brandon nailed it if some one took their slot and throw it in the trash how would anyone know.

OK so here is some more of my $0.02:

In my opinion there were 6 people on the list who actually shoot/have shot production for a lengthy period of time. Everyone else(Myself included) started shooting production at the end of 2012 or beginning of 2013 in preparation of Nats being in Oklahoma and wanting to go because it is close to home. If I had thought of it before the slots were actually passed out I would have suggested we put those 6 people at the top of the list and drawn more names IF THERE WERE SLOTS LEFT.

Live and learn. you can't make everyone happy all the time. Last year slots were given to EVERYONE who asked for one, but it was in Vegas and people didn't want to travel, now that it is in OK EVERYONE and their brother wants to go.

But I say we leave all the "I don't thinks" and "should have done it this way's" off the forums and if you have a better idea for how the slots should be distributed then submit your idea to Rob directly or VIA your club president.

The slots are already distributed, it's done(unless we get more because of the L/L10 slots we gave back) so let's move on and get idea's together on how to make the way OK does things better and not focus on the past.

Isn't that Walls job? He makes such a good mule. I have a bad back and the 1000 rounds you need to shoot a 500 round match might be too much for me.
 
"Mule" is my job, always has been....always will be. Cost for you Brandon is a pint of frosty beverage ;-)

If this is true I don't know what everone is worried about, especially for the local guys. I plan on showing up with my gear and if I don't get to shoot I'll just drive the 4 miles back to the house.

What you did was fine dude. Since there was nothing in our out of date section by laws and this was all on the fly what's done is done.

As far as submitting your ideas directly that's fine too but the fact that we are actually discussing things here is awesome since its the first time we have been able to see anything or have any input on how the section we all pay to be a part of operates. Rob has done a great job simply by communicating with all of us. It's great.
