Nammo buys Vihtavuori

Isn't Nammo the company that isn't real interested in anything but military sales? I seem to have heard that. Also they seem to be fully onboard with the Small Arms Treaty so I'm thinking so.

See page 20

The small arms treaty isn't about regulating civilian arms sales, it's about regulating sales between countries, and keeping stuff away from countries that are not on the "friends list".

Nammo mainly deals in munitions production for military use, but I as far as I've heard "Vihtavuori" is going to continue producing ammo for civilian use. So everyone here sees it as a good thing.

Hope your right. I just tested some .357 loads with their N110 and they were friggin screamers! I need some more of that.

everything I have read so far indicates that NAMMO is owned by government entities in the netherlands? That basically means that several foreign governments are going to own vita powder production. I also don't see any civilian arm of the company on their website? Curious indeed.

nammo is a 50/50 ownership between the norwegian ministry of trade and PATRIA which is 73.2 percent owned by the government of finland. So basically they will be owned by the norwegian and finnish governments. Its bad enough that Hodgdon powders are made by the Australian Defense Industries which is owned by the french conglomerate the Thales group.

Yep. I was looking at them the other day. Civilian sales of Vhit powders is not even enough to get a phone call answered by a board member of either the parent companies. Who really knows what they are going to do? But I can guarantee one thing, they could care less about civilian sales of their small arms powder line. It's not even a drop in their bucket.

We need a couple of plants on our own soil that Alliant and Hodgdon could license to. I think we have all of two in the entire country, one for stick powders and one for flake/ball. If you stop and think about it, our government would seem to have a vested interest in seeing that the military could procure their own powder instead of relying on imports from other countries.

The current regime does not care about our military.

On the locations page they have listed the various companies, including Lapua and Vihtavuori.

I did speak with a fella at alliant's place today. he was a very nice guy who explained that as they are owned by the giant atk, who also owns federal, the lions share of their powder is going right where we suspected, loaded ammo. As are the majority of the primers made by federal.

I think it might be a good opportunity for someone with the dough to open another manufacturing facility in the U.S. It would take a whole lotta dough though. If the last 5 years have shown anybody anything, there are sales to be had in both retail and wholesale to ammunition manufacturers.

I can't even begin to fathom how much capital it would take to open a powder plant. Not to mention trying to squeeze in on ATK who is a massive defense contractor. Probably end up like tucker's car company.

You could start a small home operation, and expand as you gain customers......hand made gunpowder.
