Hey all,

I'm a new member of the site, living in the DPRSC(Democratic People's Republic of Southern California). I'm not really sure what else to put here, other than I look forward to chatting and learning.

What type of shooting are you currently into?

Welcome to the party. Make sure you check out the contingency program where we are giving away over $3,000 in guns just for shooting.

I would call the type of shooting I'm into "poor" ;) Recreational plinking, I guess you'd call it. I'd like to start shooting USPSA and multigun matches. I think I'm kind of at the point where I need another set of eyes on me to tell me what I'm doing wrong/not right enough, and anybody that knows of some outdoor places to shoot in the area that would be willing to assist, beers are on me. Afterwards, of course.

The best thing I did in the first 6 months of shooting USPSA was take a 2 day pistol class with Mike Seeklander. Try to find a class from one of the top guys as soon as you can.

There are lots of good competitive shooters in CA I just don't know which guys teach. I'd hit up Taran Butler, Keith Garcia, Mike Voight, and Barry Dueck.

Welcome! This group is very accommodating for beginners! I agree with Jesse, although I have yet to take a class because I have two teens that would have to go as well. Chances are that there is a club close to you that holds some sort of competition. Don't be shy, go, find the match director, and check it out. Good chance someone will loan you gear to shoot that day, or at least you will have an idea of what you need. Matches bring a whole new level of enjoyment to shooting, as well as making you a competent shooter. You can be as competitive as you want to be, or not.
