I'm trying to identify this powder I found in some hand loads I recently obtained. If they shoot well. I'd like to duplicate the load.
See attached photo. The flakes are light green in color. about 1/16" in dia. Not sure if they are super short cut stick or flattened ball powder.
I measured 3.8 grains in a 9mm Luger case with a 147 grn plated TMJ-RN bullet

I know it's not Unique, Power Pistol, CFE, IMR4895 or H4895 IMR3031, IMR4064 IMR4227 WST, Red Dot or Reloader 15, because i have all those and none are like this.

Kinda looks almost like a shotgun powder being the shape it is? Maybe someone with half a brain will chime in.

Contact the person you got the loads from, cause an improper guess from one of us yahoo's could lead to injury.

Not a good idea to identify a powder by looks.

That said it kind of looks like clays but the pic is out of focus.

Looks like a Maxam powder, perhaps CSB-1, I use CSB-1 3.8gr at 1.130 with a MG 147gr fmj in my 9mm loads. Works well for me very consistent.

It does look like one of them for sure.

That said, I'd NEVER load a powder that I didn't know exactly what it was.
