There had been some interest in the tortoises that I keep in another thread so I figured I would go ahead and share some pics of them here.

Mr T (Thundernuts). Male sulcata

chomping on some Mazuri tortoise diet (he gets it about twice a week. grazes and gets greens the rest of the time)

Redfoot temp sexed female. Not 100% sure on sex, but was incubated so that there is a greater chance it is a "she".

yes, as a matter of fact my wife and i getting an aldabra tortoise next year. they get just as large as the galapagos tortoises and at a fraction of the price. you can get a galapagos tortoise baby for around $10,000 plus you have to have a federal permit. a baby aldabra will run $2000 and no permits. the tortoise that is going to father the baby that i'm going to get next year is at the tulsa zoo. he weighs about 600 pounds....

My wife loves turtles, especially sea turtles. I gotta bring her to your place sometime. Those little guys chomping down the lettuce is totally cool! While on vacation in Barbados we saw some exotic turtles in the national park. They were making babies and making some really funny noises. The 14 year old boy in me couldn't help but laugh and point. Here are some pictures of the action.

Jesse, you and your wife are welcome over anytime.

Those tortoises are redfoots. That's awesome that you got to see them in the wild. Tortoises are hilarious...they make some funny noises when they get it on. My little Russian male squeaks when he's doing it! :hee20hee20hee:

Thanks for the grass info!!!!!!

They sounded like forest gump imitating his mom and the pricipal getting him into that school. Lol.

WOW I love turtles. In California when I was a kid I had a Desert Turtle. That was the best turtle ever I would feed it by hand, it walked all over our back year and would hibernate in the winter. Well I moved out and lived in an apartment and so the turtle stayed at my mom's place. Well found the turtle and it was attacked by a cat, or possum or something its front leg was chewed up, and had maggots in it. Well I went to the vet and well the big guy died. I was so sad, I never had another turtle again. However I would really like one. Do you know of any turtles that can grow large and are legal to own and not an arm and a leg to buy?
