I just picked up the Smith and Wesson M&P Sheild 9mm today. It feels great, price was good and it shoots very smooth. Ive been wanting a compact 9mm for awhile and I liked certain things on all the other out there but havent found one that I know I would be happy with. Then I came across this one by accident and I love it so far.

Pictures please. How does it fit into your hand? Does it have an extended mag, or does your pinky have to dangle off the end?

Once you get it out to the range I'd be interested on your thoughts on the recoil. I'd think a lot of the pocket 9s could be a bit snappy but I've heard good things about the Shield.

I've also heard that they've "fixed" the M&P trigger with a more solid reset.

It shoots very well, it does weigh in at 19oz and has an 18 degree angle on the grip so it points great. I have owned the Kel-tec PF9 and the Ruger LC9 and my new Shield as far less recoil and is actually a joy to shoot. It comes with a flush 7 round mag and my pinky hangs off but it also comes with a 8 round mag the lets my whole hand fit just right. And the trigger is similer to the other M&Ps but it does have a better reset. Heres a pic with the flush 7 round mag.

Did you buy new? If so, where'd you find it? I held one the other day and thought the feel was awesome and unique. I'd love to pick one up!

Yes I bought it new from T&K outdoors in Spartanburg. Hes asking $429.99. I couldn't find them anywhere else. I was really wanting the .40cal but settled for the 9mm. And if any one gets the .40 and wants the 9mm I would be glad to swap.

shooting it would be much more fun than just picking it up!

Lol, I stopped in with silent Bob at UAG and bought the M&P9c instead. I liked the shield but decided to cough up the extra cash for the double stack and interchangeable grips of the 9c. Unfortunately that added weight and thickness but not too much. Great shooting pistol! I recommend the M&P's

I was looking at the M&P 9c aswell and it is a very nice gun. It was a hard choice between the 9c and the Sheild but liked the slim single stack better in my hands, and the way I dress I think the Sheild stays covered better on me. Well have to get together sometime and shoot then side by side.

Sounds good to me Choot-um! Next time you're in the Corinth area stop in for a visit!
