I got this pre 80 series Colt combat commander after my brother in law passed. Found it in a box of handguns. Only one I was interested in. Built in 1972. With a minimal amount of attention it became a dependable shooter. Pretty damn accurate too. The sights were Wilson and would not stay put so I sent it to dave at evo armory and had him put a novak gold bead front and a Harrison design rear. This gun got me hooked on the 1911 as prior to this I only had revolvers and polymer guns. I hope to send it to a smith for some attention but haven't stopped buying new guns so never have the cash !
The only thing it really needs is a good trigger but I would like to have it worked over. Some day I will.

My first 1911 is a Colt US Army made in 1917. My father gave it to me after carrying it around the world in his job. That was 46 years ago. It still shoots a 3 inch group at 25 yards if I do my part. With aging eyes, that gets harder every year.
