Thanks everyone. I will be careful, although it's concerning how close to home the break-ins and armed robberies (and attempts) are getting.

C:
here's hoping! when did you take your class?

Mmm...I wanna say...February? But we weren't able to send my application off until April. Tomorrow makes 90 days but I doubt that SLED is counting weekends into that time. I'm not that lucky, lol.

The waiting is tough.

According the some of the old timers.
When the card comes you are supposed to put on your pistol.
Go to Wal Mart
Buy ammunition
Stop in the snack bar and have Nachos.

Nah- that's according to you, I would care to wager- I was waiting for you to say that again!

:P

Frost is an old timer

But I've heard several variations of that over the years.
The main thing is you have to go alone so you can fully absorb the experience.
After a while you become used to carrying concealed and it becomes quite natural.
Kind of like having keys in your pocket.

congratulations!

I think I'm going to have to use a variation of the ritual, since neither of my local Wally Worlds have snack bars that serve Nachos. They do have McDonald's though, so I'm thinking an apple pie and a shake is in order.
Fortunately both Wally's started carrying firearms and ammunition again, one of them dropped it about a year ago and just brought it back a month or two ago.

Wal-Mart was the first place I went, too. (No nachos, though.) I felt awkward at first, like everyone was looking at me and somehow knew I had a weapon on me.

That was a year and a half ago, and now I feel naked if I leave the house without it. You get used to it pretty fast. :)

After a while you do forget you have it right up until you see the metal detector.
Then you remember the whole 4 blocks back to your car...

I went to the Highway Department in Mt. Pleasant....I had no idea they had a metal detector and a guard at the door...And, of course, I was carring and on my bike...

I took my leather vest off, wrapped my carry gun in it, and stuck it under my bike...

Went inside, got my buisness done and came back to see nothing had been touched...

No at all cool...but, I had to go that day...

Lessons learned...

My Harley Davidson.

I look pretty bad when I am riding. I really figured someone took one look at me, they won't mess around the bike...

Me? When I first got my CWP I had a leather Galco OWB, now I have a crossbreed supertuck IWB that I really like. I use both of them with my XD9.

I have no idea what Steve carries :D
