My 1st Ever 1911 by a Total Nubie

Waited 65yrs to finally round-out my GAGC (Great American Gun Collection) with a RIA 5" FS 1911-A1 8-rounder, all black (even the sights), no rail and rubberized grips. Not my only .45ACP handgun, just my first ever 1911!! (undoubtedly not my last either --that story will develop with time).
Who am I? Just a retired married guy taking all the time in the world to tinker with pistols, rifles, scopes, mag carriers, sights, grips, accessories, holsters, handloads --and shooting them all. A *lot* of shooting! Why not, right?
I'll ask a lot of (probably dumb) questions, so give me your best shot and what works for you. It might work for me, too. Ya never know...
