Nilgai, comes from the king ranch area. Hardest critter ever to drop with any caliber. usually requires 2-4 shots over a long distance. I use a 8mm mag I built shooting a 200 gr barnes @ 3300 fps. Shoot one in the shoulder and it gives you the finger and hauls ass.

Nilgai hunting is a blast. I shot a cow a couple years ago when I was at King Ranch. Benny is exactly correct on the difficulty to drop them. The cow I shot took 4 shots with my 308 with a 175 grain Berger VLD. First 3 shots went in the shoulder and never passed through. The last shot was in the neck and it finally stayed down.
