Is there any real effect on accuracy using mixed brass? I'm hand loading .40 SW, with home cast bullets.
Thanks,

At the distance your shooting .40, it won't make any difference.

Loading rifle for long range it can make a huge difference.

Real effect? Yes.

A difference for USPSA? Most likely not. Unless you are shooting 40yrd head shot standards, probably not.

A difference for Bullseye? Not really sure but probably.

For Zombies? Nope.

The variations in your lead mix for your cast bullets will have more impact on accuracy than the slightly different case volumes across different batches of brass from different manufacturers.

For 99% of shooters' purposes, sorting headstamps or separating by weight, etc, makes no noticeable difference.

Everybody knows if you have to shoot the zombies, you're already screwed! Begs the question though, as to why I shoot USPSA to prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse?
Anyway, thanks for the info.
