Merrell MOAB Ventilators/Waterproof/Goretex

Hey there folks, I was thinking of getting a pair of these shoes, I don't know what the difference is in weight and breathability. Anyone have any experience in them? They make a ventilator, a goretex, and a waterproof one.

The last couple of pairs of Merrels I bought have had less than stellar quality. The insole and arch support on the shoes broke down in just a few months of wear.

I'm familiar with all 3. They're 'ok'. I'm not a Merrell fan.
All 3 versions weigh less than 2lbs. The waterproof or Gore booties will add way less than 1/2 ounce.

The vent model is just that, a mesh upper for some breathability.
The Gore version has a waterproof/breathable GoreTex bootie glued between the inner liner and the outer.
The waterproof version has a similar non-branded bootie that Merrell doesnt have to pay a licensing fee on.
Most people can not tell the difference in the waterproof and the Gore breathability. If they say they can, I dont believe them.

Buy an Oboz instead. Either a Sawtooth Mid, a Yellowstone, or Traverse.

Do you know of some good outlets for them? Zappos doesnt seem to stock them, at least not those models. I like zappos because of the free shipping and return, so basically its like mail order dressing room.

Backwoods in OKC should have them.

Also check with Edmond Summit in Edmond.
They dont carry Oboz, but they're a great outdoor gear store with a good footwear dept.

If you want something light you could try Adidas or Salomons

Unfortunately those MOABS are the only thing I have found that come in 10.5W. I went over to backwoods, really liked the feel of those traverse's but the 10.5 was a little small and the 11s where maybe too big. I have a pair of moabs coming from zappos. Might go to the store with them on and do a side by side.
