OK. I have a Glock 34 with: DP Sights, 3.5# drop in trigger, DP Ice magwell, and ISMI Guide rod and spring. Am I considered production or limited? Either way, could someone explain why? I'm having a little bit of difficulty finding a cut and dry list of what IS and IS NOT in each classification. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

the magwell puts you in limited.
No external mods are allowed in production

You can go to the USPSA website and download the rule book. First check for your specific model on the approved Production Gun list. If it is there you can procede to look at appendix D4 (Specs for Production Guns). In there you will see the modifications from stock that are allowed. If they are not named (Described) specically, they are not allowed. You would have to load only 10 rds in any magazine but that's easy enough to do. It is the Magwell that would bump you to limited and prevent you from shooting in Production Division.

The other appendix in the rule book list the limitations and guidelines for each division.

Good Luck.

Besides the magwell, you might have a problem with making the weight restriction for that model. For Production guns, you can only be 2 oz above the stated weight on the accepted gun list, that's with an empty magazine inserted.

Thanks for the info. I shot a steel match today and shot in limited, just didn't know why I wouldn't be considered production..I suppose I could just pull the magwell off if I wanted to shoot production..which is what I'll most likely do. I'm getting an STI Eagle in 9mm that I'll just use for a limited gun.

For limited div. USPSA, 9mm will be subjected to minor scoring.
The .40cal shooters (major power factor) will get more points than you for the same hits (other than alphas).

You need to read the USPSA equipment rules. Your wasting your $ on guns that aren't built for the divisions you want to shoot.

Take the magwell off and use that G34 for production. Keep the magwell and use it when u shoot 3 gun. Get a STI in .40 for limited.

This.
90% of what you need to know for USPSA is in the rule book appendix. The rest is safety and range comands.

Ok..thanks for the help. I just downloaded the rule book. I'll get to reading. Only reason I want the STI in 9mm is for the sake of ammo pricing/availability. I have several thousand 9mm and 0 .40 cal. Thanks again for the response everyone.

If you get into shooting competitions much you'll realize several thousand rounds won't last long. Also 9mm right now is about as hard to find as a needle in a haystack. You could trade the 9mm for .40 with no effort, then get into reloading to save the money. Also .40 is on the shelves almost every time I hit the gunshops. 9mm hasn't been seen in months. :(
