March Ponca USPSA match will be a special classifier match

You guys would score, RO, and tape yourself?

No jack wagon. You have dedicated RO's that get paid to be there.

You may have to bump the match fee up to $40.

Think about it. $40 x 40 = $1600, $40 x 100 = $4000. I could pay 5-8 RO's on that budget and still put a little beer money away in my sock next to my LCP. If you could trade 3 hours of standing around at a match for an additional $20 or even $30 wouldn't you do it? Heck I'd pay $50 if I could shoot a 6-7 stage match in under 4 hours. My free time is worth at least $10/hour.

:sarcastichand: Do you even shoot USPSA?

There aren't 40 shooters willing to pay $40 to shoot a pistol match. I'm one of them. $40 covers a $15 match fee AND my ammo. If money was no object we'd all have caddies driving us around in golf carts and playmates loading our magazines. If adding 50 rounds to a match is enough to alienate some shooters, what do you think tripling the match fee would do?

And good luck finding RO's unless you're planning on hiring some hormonal teenagers (which, believe it or not, I have seen at a major match last year...chaos ensued). I mean, the High Plains Match was short on ROs!!

How would walkthroughs work, exactly? Think of the non-shooting elephant dung that has to get done. Squads are pretty damn efficient.

The best idea I have seen is Robert C. having two start times.

A classifier match is a whole match, 6 stages in this case of USPSA classifier stages. It is handy to get your classification in a division in one match. In this case you could get classified in every division. If you need to know what a classification is follow this link and it will explain the USPSA classification system.

Thanks Scott

Is there a range fee then $4 for each division we want to shoot?

Let us know when you have a round count. I'm planning on going to this. Carpool anyone? Don't know how well I trust my old beater on the out of town road trip.

I'm thinkin about shooting 3 guns going in for Production 9mm, Limited .40 cal, & Single Stack .45acp. I need something other than U's on my new card, even if it is a "D".

Sounds like a fun day! March 10th, marked on the calendar!

Steve,

I believe it is $4/scorecard/gun. If you want to shoot all 6 classifiers with one (1) gun, that is $4 x 6 classifiers = $24 to shoot all of them in each division. If you shoot all six (6) classifiers with three guns, that's $24 x 3 = $72.

Got it, thanks.
Shows how new this stuff is for me. 2 guns wouldn't be too bad then .

I know a couple of us are carpooling up there. I think Brian K may have another seat available. You might want to PM him. Steve, I live on the east side of Mustang so if you want to ride with me to meet Brian (and if it's okay with him) that can work.

The forecast is calling for rain....not that rain would bother me...but COLD rain....not my idea of a good time.

Sandy don't say that! I'm really looking forward to getting out of town to shoot. Might try to get classified with Revo, L10, and production! should have a mess of 9mm loaded up this evening. I gotta try this BBQ I always hear about, Dennis think you can help out with that? Later,

Kirk

Dude why you selling it already? I really wanted to make this match but my wife has something going on so I have to stay home with the girls.

Steve,

I believe it is $4/scorecard/gun. If you want to shoot all 6 classifiers with one (1) gun, that is $4 x 6 classifiers = $24 to shoot all of them in each division. If you shoot all six (6) classifiers with three guns, that's $24 x 3 = $72.

Don't forget that you only need 4 classifiers to get your initial classification. So in reality $16 to get classified in whatever you want.

"To become classified, a member must have at least four valid scores from different classifier courses in the USPSA database. If more than four scores are in the database when the averages are calculated, the best four of the most recent six valid scores will be used. Any scores in excess of the most recent six valid scores are not used for the initial classification. Those scores over the most recent six may be used at the next monthly reclassification if they are within the most recent eight scores.
It is important to note that for INITIAL classifications ALL scores greater than 2 percent will be used to determine a classification. These scores will be continued to be used until they are bumped from the most recent eight scores in use by higher VALID scores. What this means is that even if a higher score is entered, but is flagged with a B or a C, the lower score will be considered valid and be included in the member’s current percentage."

My wife and I were talking and with my work schedule and our budget, I really don't have the means to shoot enough competitions to justify the pistol. I may use the money from the sale to buy her a G17 and pay off some credit card debt.

If you sell the G34 and buy a new G17 you aren't going to have much left over for those credit card bills. I'd keep that 34 for a carry gun.
