The JP CTR-02 is the cream on top of the 3 gun rifle pie. it was my first full rifle purchase and it's great but I now know you don't need a billet receiver set to win. It does look cool as it gets though. They won't make you shoot any better than a JP15 with the same barrel or any other less expensive forged 3G style rifles out there. I'd save the money now and buy a Benelli M2 or used M1. Then later if you still feel the need and have the funds you can buy that dream CTR-02 rifle. A good shotgun, aka Benelli M1 or M2 is far more important than an expensive rifle.

Ah the M2 American. Don't be fooled by the cheap price. It doesn't have the $500 comfortech stock which is the biggest difference between the old M1 and the new M2. It also only comes in a 26" barrel. it's a great gun but your getting what you pay for. It's the gun in Matt's photo above if I'm not mistaken.
 
He picked up a Benelli M2 12/21 synthetic this morning and has the Nordic extension ordered. Also picked up 250 rounds of ammo. I can't wait until he comes over so I can put my hands on it.

Jesse I'll probably end up with the JP-15, it's been hard to save for the CTR. I keep buying ammo and this week got a new holster, mag pouches and Cr speed belt. If I could stop spending money I could of already had it. I have a Daniels defense now should I just use it and buy a M2? Then save for the JP rifle.

Any Rifle will get you in the game. Any shotgun will too but a good 3 gun specific shotgun is WAY more important than a dedicated 3 gun rifle.

When I started 2 years ago I already had a Glock 34 from my USPSA shooting. The first gun I bought was a used Benelli M1. I shot a DPMS lower with a JP trigger and a Firebird upper topped with a Trijicon TR-24G for a year until I had the funds for a CTR-02. A decent scope will make a less than optimal rifle adequate. The most important gun to have right IMHO is the shotgun. You can find used M1's all day for under $800 or start with that M2 American.

Make Ready Pro Shop carries all the goodies to get all your guns 3 gun ready and they are the lest expensive too.
 
I have another question. Does Benelli make a field confortech 20ga with a 21 inch barrel? I have only been able to find them with 24 inch barrels.

The fn slp is a hit or miss deal. I've seen some run lie a top and some not at all.

If you're only going to shoot a little bit anything will work. If you're going to spend $1,000+ traveling to some big matches around the country get the Benelli.
