I've been eyeballin the shield myself. I carry a Kahr CW9 in the summer and the trigger is just way too long on it.

I was carrying a P9 or PM9 and never actually liked shooting them. The Sield is very enjoyable to shoot. I have sensitive hands due to arthritis and the Kahr pistol bothered me, where as the Shield does not. That maybe se of an approved grip shape but I also think is recoils less. It's a good buy and you should enjoy it over the Kahr.

There are a few 9mm and .40 shields in stock at Sportsworld in Tulsa today, they had sold over a dozen before noon...

Now that these guns have been out for a while, is there any new news? Are they still the "next best thing" or were they just hype that lost its fizzle?

I love mine(9mm). 1500 or so rounds down range, no failures.

I run it through the Steel Challenge stages at USSA regularly. Fun gun to shoot.

The only things I have done to mine are Talon Grips and Trijocon HD night sights.

I like the idea. Is the top end skinnier than a standard M&P? These are single stack guns correct?

Yes and yes.
I like mine. It's a toss up which one I carry, the Shield 9mm or the G19.
