I was looking at mag extensions at speed shooter specialties and really like the Taran Tactical extensions. One question... It looks as though they require the old style retainer plate with the round hole. My mags have the square hole located to the rear. Can I just buy the complete mag extension combo pack?http://www.speedshooterspecialties.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=103_91_258&products_id=1274

Will it work with my magazines as is or do I still need to get the round hole retainer plate?

Thanks for any advise.

You don't need the retainer plate at all. Get the Taran Tactical pads or the Taylor Freelance, both are awesome, but the Tarans take apart easier for cleaning.

I don't see what made you think you needed the old mags to make it work.
On the speed shooters specialties ESP base pads it said :
Requires the use of the old style retainer plate with the round pin, SSS part number 1910. 1 base pad per package.

I just wanted to make sure. Thanks for the info.

When I used the sss ESP plates they had to have the old style round floor plates.

Oh, ok. Well with the +5 Taran extensions you don't need to worry about that.

I run the TTI +5/6 on my M&P40 mags. Excellent fit and finish. I got mine from Taran Tactical's web store and he shipped them out that day and I had them in 2 days. Very impressive.
