M&P 9c upgrades for EDC

Fair enough, i was legitimately asking, not trying to argue! I do not completely disagree with you but was just wondering if you knew of any cases so that when this discussion does happen again in the future those cases could be referenced.

My opinion: if you cannot very clearly explain why you made the modifications to the trigger, for example so that I could be more accurate and not hit innocents etc., then there is no business messing with the trigger.

In conclusion though most shooters, myself included, cannot outshoot our guns as they come from the factory.

I know a few people on the department that have Apex triggers. They qualified with the pistol and authorized to carry it since it's the equivalent of sending it to the Performance Shop. Basically if it's a factory option, it's ok. I'd feel comfortable with a drop-in kit for that reason (5.5 lbs is what I believe you'll get with that trigger, there's a reason they have competition kits, and carry/duty kits.Secondly, we live in OK, if a DA pushed on a self-defense shooting because of the trigger, he's not going to be very popular, if you travel to non gun-friendly states, you might have a little more trouble.
thats nothing like a sw performance shop thing. Myself, Id never carry one of those apex trigger things. Sear, fine, but not the trigger assy.

Which trigger though? They have several, the standard forward set, or action enhancement trigger basically get rid of the hinge, and move the pivoting safety into the center of the trigger just like Glock. I am not talking about the flat faced triggers. I know their action enhancement kit and matching trigger don't change the trigger the same way S&W does, but I believe the end result is similar as far as weight, etc goes. Regardless of the departments reasoning for allowing it, they don't believe it to be a liability and was approved. They take liability etc into consideration, so good enough for them, good enough for me.

The Apex 100-073 (for FS and compact 9 and 40) was designed as a duty/carry trigger and is supposed to come in at 5-5.5 lbs. the stock trigger spring is actually lighter than the replacement APEX spring. The big change is due to the replacement sear. Apex supplies the stiffer spring to bring it back up about .5-1lb. My 9c with the above kit and stock trigger spring breaks at 4.75lbs. My Shield with a forward set curved aluminum trigger and stock spring comes in about the same. My Fullsize with forward set curved aluminum trigger and stock spring comes in about 3.5lbs.
