M&P 9c upgrades for EDC

So I currently carry a 9c, I like it, wish it where a little lighter, but from what I can gather, the single stack offerings out there aren't much lighter and not much more concealable( I was originally thinking of trading in for a shield, but consensus seems to be against that.) The front sight has worn off, and I was thinking of replacing it, also thinking of doing the whole apex trigger thing, but there are so many options, I was wondering what would be the recommended line of upgrades? This is for EDC, nothing super fancy, but somethings to make the pistol a little better to shoot.

I like the 9c. I carried one for a long time before my Glock.

I have night sights but if I did it over again, I would do a fiber optic on the front.

My trigger was OK but not great. You dont need a 3 lb trigger on a carry gun. Matt Rigby will come along and tell you how to make the trigger better for cheap
 
I'll tell you how to do a trigger for a carry gun.... LEAVE IT THE **** ALONE!!
You don't want the prosecutor to have any sort of argument to make you the bad guy in a self defense situation. A lightened trigger can be twisted to be a "killing machine (whatever)" that the pprosecutor can twist around for in his favor.

Sights are a personal preference, mine being black rear and red F.O. front.
 
The G43 trigger I fondled the other day was like a liability attorney was on the rag when it was approved. It was so bad I thought they put some sorta lock in it, ala Taurus or S&W revo. I just bought a Shield and it's light years better but still heavy as fark. Even on the Shield when the striker breaks the front site jumps right no matter how much you concentrate on not letting it do so. There is no compelling reason to have a 10+ freaking pound trigger unless it's a DA revolver. None!

I'm with Matt every one of my carry guns are bone stock accept sights. I carry a 9c sometimes and I'd say I felt a lot worse triggers.

Lol. Mine is about 6.5lbs, I hope I can squeeze that shot off before the other.
 
I think you can sure as hell smooth some contact points out without turning your gun into a liability. M&P triggers don't need a drop in pull weight just some grit taken out. That's just my opinion. A little love with some super high grit sand paper will yield the same results as putting 3 or 4 thousand rounds through it. I agree with everyone else on the sights. Black rear fiber front. I like the dawson sets myself.

Even better than leaving it alone...
Buy the gun that fits your hand/grip/shooting/carry style, put the sites on it that you can see/focus on best, and SHOOT IT, with live ammo on the range.
Practice with it and that trigger will get smoother and you will become accustomed to that pull.
 
I have had the gun for a while, the trigger isnt that bad per say, it is a little difficult on follow up shots however, I don't know if this is just because its a shorter barrel than other pistols I have shot, or just me needing some more training. I hit paper, but I want the groups tighter. I think the sight is most of the problem, that being said, what are the brands that you guys recommend for front sights?
 
I know a few people on the department that have Apex triggers. They qualified with the pistol and authorized to carry it since it's the equivalent of sending it to the Performance Shop. Basically if it's a factory option, it's ok. I'd feel comfortable with a drop-in kit for that reason (5.5 lbs is what I believe you'll get with that trigger, there's a reason they have competition kits, and carry/duty kits.Secondly, we live in OK, if a DA pushed on a self-defense shooting because of the trigger, he's not going to be very popular, if you travel to non gun-friendly states, you might have a little more trouble.
 
Matt do you have any references to actual court cases where trigger weight and/or trigger modification was used against the defendant?
 
Matt did a super sweet trigger job on my kid's M&P match gun about 3 years ago. I carry that gun sometimes. If I was in an active shooter situation at my kid's school there is no gun we own that I would rather be carrying. 17+1 with a a 23 round back up and no issue on a man size target at well over 25 yards. I'll take my chances in court.

I do not. It's speculation on my part on how manipulative attorneys trying to win a case can be.
I'm not one to take a chance on something like that.
