Serious question: how do people know the difference between good gun lube and bad gun lube? I've used all kinds of stuff on my old Sig, my 1911, and my various M&Ps and they always just run no matter what.

The only difference I've noticed is that the mag release on my Shield doesn't rust when I put grease on it (instead of oil), but I attribute that to grease being better than oil at that particular thing.

that's a good question poop giggle and I think that gun oils are largely not needed. I did a little bit of research on this a while back when some of my guns started forming rust and tarnish. At the time I was a ballistol fanboy but I really don't know why. After looking around I decided I needed 1 oil for rust prevention (wd-40 LTCI), and then just about any motor oil and some cv axle grease for lubrication. Id post some links but for some reason im not able to on this forum :(

My safe is unfortunately in my garage and exposed to temp swings but since switching to WD-40 LTCI no more rust...buy it at Walmart and it smells really good. Never had a gun show excessive wear with cheapo auto oil and left over cv axle grease from changing some boots on my rzr.
