LPK Problem

The mag release button on the most recent lower parts kit I purchased, for one of my Loki lowers, is slightly smaller then it needs to be. So, when you press the button the mag lock catches part of the mag well and jams.

I guess I need to get a new mag release group, or maybe just a button. I am sure there is too much play around the area of the button. My other two, Spikes and Loki, are fine.

Has anyone else had this issue, and can I get just the button and mag catch?

If you are talking about the mag catch and the mag button, you might try to back them out one turn. It may be screwed in to tight. Not sure if that will help, but its just a thought.

Button should be about flush with the ridges around the mag release.

I've had problems with a lot of LPKs but the mag release button has never been one of them.

Might need to put one more turn on it maybe two. Your button is pushing the catch out to far thus catching on the outside of the mag well right?

The button is even with the shaft on the mag catch. I have tried to oil it. I notice the button moves in every direction in the recess when the button is pressed. There is way more play in the button than my other two receivers. Looks like it could be a DPMS kit, just a guess as the kits are not generally marked. (I have noticed that the Rock River Arms kits have a marked A2 grip, near the hole for the grip screw on the inside.)

The red circle is the area where it is hanging up.

I think I may take it up to Steve and have him look at it so I can make sure I am not losing my mind.

Be sure you are pushing the mag release button all the way in while you are screwing the catch into it. us a punch or the like to make sure the spring is fully compressed and then protect the lower with a pc of tape and give it a few more turns. dont force it the catch past the lower but make sure it is threaded into the buttom as far as it will go. Dont scratch your lower.

I use a bic pen to hold it in when I thread the catch in.

I took it to CHA, and three buttons and two catches later we found the winning combination.

So, all is well and good. Mag releases like it should.
